So in the end what is the proper or close to proper way to do this mod? and what versions of the motherboard will this work with?

it can be done in any board with the S-ENC or BA6592F chip.
In my case my snes had a "S-ENC B" and i just had to wire it to three rca and put a 150 Ohms resistor in yuma to ground with no other components
here is a video, even with my bad recording you can see it looks good

Nice! So the mod by the OP is for the BA6592F only and the direct wire to RCA with the 150 ohm is for the S-ENC only?

depends on your snes, in my case the "S-ENC B" worked with that, the S-ENC i think it also need a amplifer like the BA6592F and the "S-ENC A" can go directly to the rca.
but its always a hit or miss with this mod so you should just try using it directly, try to tweak it and if the signal is too weak then try to use the amplifer and tweak it until you have the correct color

The problem with direct connection from the chip is that colors are always a bit weak and also the output is not buffered ( protected from the outside ) and it screws others outputs when you use the component one.

When im finished with the AD adapter I plan to make my own version of this mod. It will be a bit more complicated but I will try to apply some of the Recommendations from Calpis and make this more conform to standards. I will also use Y from the chip and amp it instead of taking it off the AV output port, this way you can use the other outputs and component at the same time, as well as preventing the system from being subjected to lower than expected impedance.

This should be interesting for video capture for people with old school capture cards like me. Play your game in component while you record with S-video.
