    Hi

Just brought myself a sega Lindbergh and it comes with virtua tennis 3, I've sorted brought this spur of the moment but hopefully I enjoy it.

How do I get controls working? I've got a mame cabinet at home with mad catz Xbox 360 controller pcbs set up on joysticks and buttons, can I use these same controls on lindbergh?

    Thanks

Hook up the I/O board to a JAMMA compatible device.

Does that mean if I get a jamma fingerboard, I could wire that up to joysticks and buttons?

He said I need to get a jvs machine, I've read up a bit and ffrom what I can tell...I can use jvs OR jamma

    Is that right?

You need a Jvs io board. Whether that connects to a jamma harness or simply buttons, that's your call. Both exist. See sega's Jvs to jamma io ( average price 50-80$) or sega's normal Jvs io for Naomi cabinets and the like ( average price 30-50$).
The plug LOOKS like USB, but it is NOT, it's a kind of serial io (rs422 iirc)! So don't plug anything USB into it.As you may notice, there is nowhere on the system to connect a jamma fingerboard to. You need an active Jvs to jamma io if you want to go that way.

Depends upon the game, the newer, bigger, non-JAMMA types are for the deluxe games with analog controls. For Tennis or VF, the old one is fine.

If it's just VT3 you want to play, just use the Sega JVS-->Jamma, tons easier than using one of those. However if you want to play a driving game or a shooting game, you have to use those.

Like this. I wouldn't use the capcom one because I don't know if it works with the lindbergh.

I'd like to play virtua tennis 3 and some driving and shooting games

So I assume the type 3 is the way to go as it covers all options really?

Can one jvs board do joystick/buttons, steering wheel/pedals and gun/led sensors or do you need seperate boards for each time

    Thanks for the answers guys

It can...but you need to switch out the cables every time. In fact you have to actually find the cables heh.

    Thanks guys,

Now for steering wheel and pedals do I have to buy a certain arcade wheel/pedals?

If so where do I find these? I know I need a serial ffb board if I want ffb

And finally... Do the universal type 2 sega gun kits work for light guns?

The Capcom I/O works perfectly fine with the Lindbergh.

I am looking into getting force feedback steering going, does anyone know much about this?

I was looking to get a model 3 steering assembly but I'm a little confused by the serial feedback board
Is this what gets called the servo motor drive? If so, could anyone explain if I want the servo motor drive bd ser em 838-14592-01 or do I want the servo motor drive bd ser hmm 838-14592-03

Ive been reading through the manuals of some games but I'm unsure if it matters what I choose

Ok well now I know. I just heard that the Capcom I/O is hated on some Sega hardware.

That's a little difficult. The model 3 motor board won't work with the Lindbergh games and the Lindbergh motor board might not work with the assembly (the motor itself). I'd say get something that is the same. (IE a lindbergh steering setup and a lindbergh board).

I've been told that model 3 steering motor works fine but I need the Lindbergh serial feedback board.

However if that's not the case then I can get a lindberg steering assembly, I'd prefer the model 3 assembly as its cheaper tho

The later JVS I/O boards can do everything but you'll need to wire everything up yourself. No one provides a cable that is wired for everything and when it comes to the drivers, the wiring sometimes conflicts with another game. For the infrared gun games, you'll need a separate gun I/O board plus the gun, all of the sensors, pedal for 2SPICY and a bracket to mount them on. Huge hurdles to just play 2SPICY, House of the Dead 4 , House of the Dead EX and Rambo but I did it. lol

The steering wheel for Initial D differs from the other games which are 270s. Pedals are standard 5k analog pots.

Yeah thanks, I understand the difficulty but I'll try my luck with the gun io board etc

I'm interested to know if a sega model 3 steering assembly will work with the type 3 jvs board. Then if I can get force feedback once I get a serial feedback board later

I don't use FFS on my setup as it differs way too much across games and manufacturers so no idea there. Ask Andy Geezer.

I've heard the Lindbergh can be run off a normal 500watt atx power supply. But how do I get power to the jvs board?
Im assuming that the Lindbergh power supply also powers the jvs board normally?

The JVS board should pull power from the USB cord, or you'll need to tap into the ATX wiring.

I'd recommend 600w, the Lindy is a P4 and those things require a fusion reactor to run.
