it`s a grey xdk with white sidecar (no pix input just a piece of plastic in it`s place with dvd emu input next to it). it won`t power up, it didnt come with a kettle lead part to the power supply just the brick piece so i borrowed a friends lead. the power supply flashes orange for a second then stays red. not even the smallest sign of life from the console. it was manufactured on 12 12 05. If anyone has any advice then please advise. many thanks.

Could be that you are using a retail power brick which does have enough to power the XDK i think it's something like 10 watt difference. That's the only thing i can think of at the moment.

You need to post a decent piccy of the PSU, or list the spec on here including model number.

...The sidecar unit requires a 'custom' PSU to power the console up :p

i have a regular retail brick. well that explains the problems i`ve been having. anyone got any ideas, i doubt one of these power supplies is easy to come by.

I`ve actually found one problem is it`s 100-127v input and i need to find a seperate plug part as its brick only, i`m in uk so i`ll have to get a step down transformer.

the thing is does it matter what the input is uk or us with stepdown converter to the console as the output would still be the same right?

If your PSU is rated 110vac you will need a step down converter to use it on a 240vac supply.

...If you have already used a 100vac PSU without stepping it down I'd be amazed if you havent buggered it!

the thing is, as the xdk doesnt have any kind of region info on the box itself and was supplied to me with retail cables all boxed up, i believed these were the correct cables. i really am not the most technically minded of ppl. i was just interested in this machine as a collectors piece. i mean how can i tell whether the console wants a uk or us power supply and do they even have uk versions of the special power supply with 200-240 with 12v 213w output?

i`m just not too sure what the next step for me should be.
many thanks for you input though its very much appreciated.

with out a 3a power supply ool. you need a 3a Power supply to run that box. The box itself does not matter on region but teh power supply varies based on region.

The 3a power supply being the one pictured in the above posts right?

so if i can get a us 3a power supply with normal us power cord and a step down transformer in theory aslong as the box hasnt been fried it`ll power up.

once again sorry for my ignorance please be patient with my silly questions.

    Yep

As long as the box is good it should fire up.

I would check Ebay since recently there has been Dev power supplys that have been hitting from the same seller. I reckon they wont have sold since not many people have an xbox 360 dev kit so this would be your chance.

it seems as though it`s gonna cost me about £70/$140 to get the correct power supply, cord and step down transformer delivered to the uk. the shipping far outweighs the cost of the items. it seems like i should sell the xdk on to someone who can actually use it. i`m just getting obsessed with seeing it powered up.

as for modding a pc psu i dont have the know how to do such a thing or the tools etc.

Well if you use the pc psu adapter you wont need to use a step down transformer.
