Really? In that case, I'll have to check and see what motherboard I have when I open it up. Unless there's a way to tell from the outside?

There's a way by using the Date of Manfacture off the bottom sticker but it's more of a "estimate" on which version it is. Much faster and simpler to just pop open the sucker, your going to anyways right? gotta drop that blob of iron right there and unleash it totally!!! ;-) Just pray it's ver 1.0-1.3 then you don't even have to pop the motherboard out can just drop the iron on 2 points at the top and then close er back up and then run raincoat and bam! :) Damn wish I lived nearby so I could just help a mate out!

Yep, it's not a matter of dropping in another board and so on. It's a really pain I was in your position at one stage and dropped a 1.6 in a 1.0 case, and killed the motherboard completely.

How did that happen? I know that the v1.6 PSU is incompatible with the earlier units, but I thought that V1.0 (and V1.1?) used a completely different power connector so it wouldn't have been possible to connect it anyway?

If you use <1.5 shielding the board will ground out and damage the motherboard or the PSU or both.

The shielding is different between revisions and causes to to short? Huh, who knew? You can't use the original shielding with a different version shell?

You can, but it requires all the tin standoffs to be broken off.

I need a psu for the one that had the power issue where the solder tabs crack on the pcb and catch fire.

pm me if you have any psu's to sell.

the metal RF sheilding serve's no purpose with today's hd lcd's they dont take rf along with pretty much everything else built by today's standards.

I just throw them in the metal scrap pile anymore since they serve no purpose except to those with a ol glass tube tv lol.

Hmm. Oh well, the scratches are barely noticeable anyway unless you tip it upside down :p

Do you have some spare thumbsticks though? Mine are all worn.

Nope, but you can buy ones for the XBOX 360, and they'll fit fine on the XBOX controllers. Only those eagle eye owners will notice by the difference in height and thickness of the thumbsticks.

Er, the texture on the tip is completely different! 360 controllers have a bumpy, hollow finish, while original Xbox have a circle and four lines design. Really HEX, you call yourself an Xbox fan? ;)

He may have thought innocently you meant XBOX slim controllers, not the Duke (big bastard).

Perhaps! But I saw a chance to have a go at HEX for falling short on his Xbox fanaticism, so I took it! :p

My bad, I figured the S and "Duke" used the same thumbsticks. Either way, looks like I'm gonna have to look to a used controller for replacement thumbsticks.
