Hi all, I found this out ages ago but thought I'd share it with you guys. I got the official God of War demo disc (NTSC U/C version) with an American magazine I got in my local newsagent store. I took it home and played it and it was soooo good, I bought the game. Well, anyhoo, I completed the game and unlocked all the secrets etc, and a funny thing happened. For some reason, I loaded up the demo disc and it read the memory card and registered that I had completed the game and therefore all the greyed out hidden treasures became selectable. On the demo it says challenge of the gods has 16 fights but in the released game there are only 10. The rest of the stuff is all pretty similar but if you select "view all the in-game movies", after it shows you the main one, it shows the trip to Athens (even though you cannot get this far in the game) and it's only half developed. There are loads of X & Y coordinates on the screen and the colour is blocky and simple. If you select any other "treasure" the game just freezes, so the only one that works is the one showing all the in game movies.... Just thought I'd let you all know. James.
Very Cool! Never really thought of this before, as I expected them to have different Save ID's (I know nothing of Memory Card Setups BTW). I wonder if this will start a hunt to see what other games have similar effects maybe? (doubt it):crying:
This reminds me of Metal Gear Solid for the PSX. During the fight scene with psycho mantis at one points he (actually the game) reads the memory card and psycho mantis will say certain things if it detects other konami titles saved on the memory card. This is a very cool find.
If I remember rightly, this didn't happen in the PSX version, it just happened in Twin Snakes for the GC? I might be wrong, but I don't ever remember it from my play throughs on the PSX version.
Ahh okay, fair enough, I really should pay more attention on some of the Metal Gear cutscenes, I tend to wander a lot due to the length
I played/rented the original PSX release. It's in there. Always has been. BTW here's a partial list of games Psycho Mantis will read from your memory card on the PSX version. Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night Policenauts Silent Hill ISS Soccer Suikoden
Haha that might be why, the only one I had was Silent Hill, just took a check and that was on another memory card! Oh well, not like I missed much...
that was when gaming was cool. Back then, my friend told me about putting the controller into the 2nd player port to keep him from reading your thoughts.
