Speaking of hentai and doujins, I think those can be really depraved and messed up, but thats because, at least what I've been led to believe, any guy who can hold up a pen can draw pictures of women getting raped by aliens and make a quick buck over there. Hell, my friends and I email/text each other the most fucked up (yet humorous) shit we can come up with because it's just how our minds/humor works. The last few days I've been watching Japanese sketch shows....I think there funny...

 

You won't think they're funny once you figure out that EVERY act is the same no matter who the comedian is :crying: Straight guy dumb guy. Dumb guy says something dumb so straight guy smacks him on the head. Straight guy shouts a lot, dumb guy shouts back, dumb guy gets another whack on the head. Repeat until your brain melts.

Ah damn. I figured the people who actually live in Japan would see through them. The ones I were watching were pretty ridiculous though, it was a spoof on power rangers and the costumes were just hilarious. So far it works for my sense of humor.

 

I thought Hard Gay was funny. I dunno, how many of these type of "Characters" show up on Japanese TV? A new one every 3 months?

What's the difference between that and all of those American comedy duos/shows like Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello, The Odd Couple, Gomer Pyle, The Three Stooges, David Spade & Chris Farley...etc....the same schtick has been around forever, it's an old vaudevillian (hell probably older) theme that has carried on into modern times. People will always find "dumb oaf/straight man" comedy funny.

 

Hard Gay was funny at first but the thing about Japan is they milk stuff far more than the west. At one point it was as if Hard Gay was on 5 shows a night every day ! I soon got pissed off seeing the same antics over and over again. Still, I knew it would only last a year. Every year there's a new ass hat who only has one catchphrase to replace the old one.

None, because all those shows were turd as well apart from Laurel and Hardy. They had a feel or originality about them. Japanese comedians are so predictable that you know what's going to happen next most of the time. Also there are so many double acts that are all the same. You can't understand until you've seen them for so many years.

EDIT: I'm not putting the US down here but I find most American comedy shows duller than watching paint dry. There's only a handful worth watching. British comedy is far more entertaining IMO.
