Are there any FPS horror games? I was watching Halloween the other day and thought it would be cool to see a FPS where you could play as Michael Myers. Ditto for Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, etc.

Condemned 1 & 2 have very good moments. Amnesia is focused on jump scare, but it's pretty good, too... you will fall outta your chair when some nasty puppet suddenly turns its head and jumps at you out of the dark, that's for sure!

I think op was a bit unclear. There are plenty of "horror" FPS but I cannot think of one where you actually play the bad guy.

Well, you can control your minions in FPS mode in dungeon keeper but im not sure that counts :p

Edit: The original AVP games on PC, you can play as the Alien and stalk/hunt humans and innocent victims. Would that count?

Horror wouldn't be horror if you play the bad guy... Or I can't see it working...

Playing the bad guy In a horror setting would probably be more comedic than anything else. Not that I dislike the idea though :D

I still have to play it, I keep hearing people saying how scary this is.

Doom 3 is scary during the first hours of game play.

My focus is actually being one of the famous bad guys from the movies. I want to be Michael Myers lurking in the shadows or Freddy trying to pull people into dreams with the same sound effects and music from the movies. Maybe I'm being a bit too specific with the request...? heh

Slender is not scary, not unless someone standing behind you doing nothing is a scary concept for you.

    Dead Island
    Dead Space
    Bioshock
    ZombiU
    Walking Dead
    Resident Evil Chronicles games

    And Dead Island is scary?

Besides stupid it's not scary at all. It's a beat'em'up FPS zombie game that only miss a arrow above your head pointing wherever you should go.

    Get a cup
    Get Coffee
    Get sugar
    Get hot water
    Drink coffee
    Enjoy your trophies

That's how Dead Island works with it's really simple objectives and lame game play.

I didn't say Dead Island was scary, it's a terrible game, but it is nonetheless a first person horror game.

Other than AvP and Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the 2600 (which isn't even an FPS) I honestly can't think of one where you play as the famous bad guy. I don't even think there's been a Friday the 13th game since the NES, same with Jason.

I guess if you really wanted to play a newer game as Freddy Kruger, he's DLC in MK, but that isn't an FPS either.

How about any Vietnam war shooter? As long as you're with the US Army, you're always playing the bad guys :D

It says "horror" games. Mowing humans down with heavy artillery & having blood, internal organs, & rib chunks plaster the floor is A-okay here in America & everywhere else, & if it was part of the horror genre then I don't see why so many kids are having a blast emptying clips in the faces of foes. We are scared of sex.

So find a first person sex game where you play as a male. That would be a horror game for so many different groups of people.

In F.E.A.R. 3 you have the option to play as Paxton Fettel who, due to the events of the first game in the series, is a ghost. You have a whole slew of ghostly abilities at your disposal, such as possessing the bodies of enemies, making enemies levitate, shooting enemies with ranged psionic attacks, etc. It's not quite what you were looking for, but it's pretty close.
