And it was. btw, unless you're playing WW2 games - a gun doesn't use a clip. It uses a magazine. A clip is the little strip of metal with bullets you use to LOAD the magazine. That's like saying you load the CD Case into your console
Clip is such a commonly used slang term, especially out here, so much so that I don't get too picky with using it in place of magazine. It is a warped word, like so many others, & while I agree that a lot of words improperly used in place of another pisses me off, but "clip" is quicker and sounds cooler. Don't get to caught up, Henners. Our shared name bears some royalty, after all. . . . Also, that game looks pretty sick! How about a dating sim that is totally "conventional" but included sex scenes? You'd agree with me that that would upset people a lot more than any war game that glorifies murder for their country, and that it would be unjust, yes?
No it's not. Well, maybe. Try saying both out load. Clip is faster to enunciate. Mag has the a & the g ;] I win this.
What. They're both single syllable with a sole vowel...maybe depending on your accent it can be longer (or if you're a goat. maaaaaaaaaaaag.) ma-guh. Cli-puh. Anyway - in text I win. And that's what this forum is - text.
Sneak King for XBOX/XBOX360. You play as the King, and you're definitely the bad guy. Game is horrific as fuck.
Oh man, years and years ago I played Conflict: Vietnam at a sleep over, We played from 6PM to 3AM (we were like 9 and we were exhausted) and couldn't get past the "Tet Offensive" stage. Woke up sharp at 10AM, spent another six hours on it and couldn't get past. That game was scarily hard to us as 9 year olds but I'd probably crush it in a single sesh these days. just like most games I used to play as a kid that were rock solid
Here's some more about "RapeLay" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RapeLay Also, the english torrent for this game is VERY much alive even 7 years later. PLAYING IT NOW.
Isn't talking about rapelay forbidden by a few different rules of this forum? I even read somewhere that if you say rapelay 3 times very fast Satan comes out of the mirror and takes your soul to hell.
I can't imagine. It said in the article too that there's a coalition working to support games like this. They question why rape, which is only 1/4 of as bad as killing isn't allowed to be in a game. We have games where we murder/kill people left and right. God knows that those minigames where Kratos bangs these chicks that he JUST met...how is that not rape? I support the game RapeLay! Not because I WANT to rape women, only for the fact that every other video game has you doing drugs, killing, kidnapping, taking people hostage...etc,etc. Either we can have rape too, or NOTHING AT ALL! *gasp* But back to the topic at hand, RapeLay still doesn't feel half as shady as playing SneakKing.
The girls in God of War desire Kratos because he's a god. If the girl wants it, it's not a rape. There are killing on games but I believe since rape focus is toward women it would be like killing children. You can have two muscle man beating each other to death but you can't have a muscle man and a child. I'm not aware of any game that you can kill defenseless kids. Of course that if rapelay was about a guy raping another guy's ass it would be different but rapelay aims towards pregnant women and loli girls. Besides all that rape is more like torture than killing and to me torture is really worst than death.
They have killing children in Star Wars Episode III, they don't fully show Anakin killing them though. Makes me wonder if they had killing the younglings in the video game for the movie.
Old PC game called Clive Barkers Undying. Great scares, lots of cool ideas. Made b4 Jericho which I was disappointed with.
The most unnerving first person shooter I've ever played is Thief 3. In fact, I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet. For most of the game it's not at all scary, well, maybe a bit nervy when you're hiding and a nearby guard comes near you, but in one level it is *extremely* unnerving. The abandoned, haunted orphanage, The Cradle, is amazing, and to me is one of the best parts of gaming ever. This level is so atmospheric, and what makes it even more amazing is that at first there aren't even any enemies, it's just deserted. But it's amazingly creepy. Anyone who wants to play a frightening game should really play this. It really is the most unnerving thing I've ever seen in a FPS. Alien vs Predator, the 1999 PC game, is the most 'jumpy' FPS I've played - even when you know an alien is nearby, when it appears on the screen and your in-game character falls over dead, you can really be shocked. Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay isn't a horror FPS, but it does have a strong 'dirty' and immoral feel to it, especially how callous your character, Riddick is, and how contemptuous he is of the people he kills. Yes, this is true of almost every FPS (well, every game where you kill anyone), in that your character shows either indifference or actual pleasure at killing people, but in CoR:EfBB you really do get a horrible feeling of Riddick's indifference to the sanctity of live. System Shock 2 (a FPS/RPG game) is very atmospheric too, especially when you hear an enemy nearby, but you don't know where they are or how they are armed, and you yourself only have a melee weapon (or at best a firearm with very limited ammunition). All four games above are really good, and well worth playing. Another FPS with a creepy atmsophere, is Condemned (especially the store level!), but I don't think it's a good game. And if you are willing to try other genres, then Silent Hill, and Silent Hill 2 are very unnerving indeed.
Me playing through Half-Life using Impulse 1 to get all the weapons before I get off the monorail is a Horror FPS if you're one of the Black Mesa NPCs. "My God! What are you doing!"
If Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles count then any of the House of the Dead games, including the Typing of the Dead games would also count. And speaking of Amnesia - both the first game and Amnesia - Machine for Pigs, there's also: Penumbra: Black Plague Penumbra: Overture Penumbra: Requiem And other first person ones like these ones: White Day Dementium - The Ward Dementium II Nanashi no Game Hellnight (was released also as "Dark Messiah", not to be confused with the Might and Magic "Dark Messiah") Killing Floor Entire F.E.A.R. series The Void (has been viewed as a psychological horror game to some, so I'll just drop that in there). Among the Sleep (which will be coming along fairly soon) Gone Home (psychological type game, but also first person). Then for more adventure type ones, you could look at Scratches, Post Mortem, Clock Tower, Pathologic, Dark Fall series... There's also an absolute shitload of mods for use with Half Life 2 or to launch via Garry's Mod that are specifically horror mods like Afraid of Monsters and other ones that I would recommend checking out via ModDB. *Shrugs* If you want other horror games outside of just first person ones, I do have a much larger list and I do have other first person ones to list but a decent amount of them are older titles so not sure if you're just wanting more current ones or if you are interested in older titles as well so I've only mentioned a couple that I've personally enjoyed. Though if you like third person games with first person sections then I have to recommend if you haven't already played any of them: Siren/Forbidden Siren, Clock Tower 3, DEMENTO/Haunting Ground, Zero/Project Zero/Fatal Frame (and the fan inspired game that's on Steam Greenlight that I am currently forgetting the title to...)
one of the oldest Horror FPSes (and still the best one IMHO) is Blood. I cant believe someone can ask for a horror FPS and have 2 pages of responses without it being mentioned. Shows how cult the game was/is. For anyone that doesn't know who made it it was Monolith. (FEAR, Condemned).
Blood is the first thing that came to my mind. The guy you play isn’t a classical bad dude though. At least you’re fighting some psycho cult.
