As for me - i'm noob in dev hardware but i know its value. PS3 debugging station for me is something what can launch betas and the main interest in that ability because biohazard 5 ps3 non retail versions exists(i'm biohazard collector).
So its a deal to buy such console for 200$-300$.

Hm...What kind of "repairing" can turn console into rubbish?

I'll contact mods to clean thread from triple post

Its not exactly what i mean. I mean is it possible damage debugging station if you repair it and think that its a retail unit(never know about debug unit)?

Yes, it's possible to cause damage with anything you open and tinker with. The youtube post, while offtopic (XBOX360) serves to illustrate that.

Additionally, things like bluetooth/wifi board and BD-ROM drive are married to the motherboard so you should not swap them around with ones from other consoles. Also the DEV unit BD DRIVE is slightly different from that of a retail.

Finally, you won't be able to install a retail update on a dev unit. It won't let you do so.
