I see a few threads but no subject thread when you go to the forum sections some of these systems are awesome ,some are okay and some are just next to useless XD some are collectible and hard to find so why aren't all the clone consoles/ systems in their own subject thread ? i happen to like some of these knockoff consoles don't you like at least one of these things ? i think i have at least 5
Clones that aren't generic Famicom clones are indeed interesting. So anything before the year 2000 has some interest to it but anything after that is mostly system on a chip rubbish. They hold as much interest as a paper bag full of sloppy shit
Clones tend to be garbage. That's why there isn't much interest in them. Some older clones actually are spot on with the original which makes then somewhat more interesting.
We have a "general gaming" section. There are threads on clones, threads about clones, threads on certain clones...hell, start a thread about a clone of your interest. It would fall under "General gaming"
Well the Retroduo's SNES end is supposed to be really REALLY good and you don't need an adapter to play Pal or SFC games in it either. So that's a plus for me anyway. Oh yeah S-video out of the box the downside of course is the iffy NES compatibility
There is some good ones out there i even have seen Gameboy Advance clones i know of 4 of them 2 seem SOC and 2 seem hardware clones
Clones are shit house. If you want to spend money on something worthless go for it. I know people include them in their collection as they are considered "consoles" but really, why bother?
I really would like to see a section for clones as well. I agree they are pretty much sub-par to the real thing, but can be practical in certain situations at a fraction of the cost. The SD card models are fascinating and certainly far more inexpensive compared to other solutions like the EverDrive. With most of these units being based on the same on-chip design, but with other varying hardware, it would be really cool to see what mods can be made to them i.e. adding controller ports to SD card model; stereo wiring, etc.
SNES - S video out the box. Pair of pliers - remove tabs and it's region free... i dont see a retroduo's positive
Sorry, but OPs wording was somewhat poor and your definition doesn't really convey what I think he was trying to say. I think he was after the term "sub forum".
I own a Retron 3 and while it's quite nice, it has terrible sound. The sound is very distorted and over-driven. That's why I sent mine out to be modified. I don't know what was done but from what I gather is that the resistors in the signal path were removed, and OP amp was dropped in, and the gain was lowered. The sound is not the same as the actual console, but very close. It's quite clean now. The video output is good though is a bit washed out. There is also some slight ghosting. But overall still nice. The same guy that modified the audio output for me removed the composite out and bridged it with the s-video. The NES looks the same over the S-Video output, but it's nice having less cables.
