How do you mod the PS1 for Digital Audio via TOSLINK?

    If you have one of those models and you want to mod it for digital audio, then yes.

    Thanks TriMesh, when I look at the image below i get the idea that the very last 3~ revisions are less "desirable" for modding (unless boardsize matters)

    The SCPH-5500 and the SCPH-7000 will work with this mod but the SCPH-7501 and later will not.

    Any of you guys end up doing this? I recently acquired some broken units (1000 and 5500 series). I am thinking about restoring the 5501 and then going the digital audio route with it.

    EDIT: Hmm Looks like citris3000psi and darcagn had some success with the 7000 series here: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/700x-ps1-toslink-success.57639/
