Just curious as to how much the average gamer spends watching TV (As in, live to air such as free tv pay tv all that stuff, netflix and dvds ect dont count, except tivo because I guess it's still a form of live to air tv)....

Because people always freak out when they ask me if I saw that show on tv last night and I tell them that I don't watch tv and haven't for well over a year now.

And being a gamer I feel there is a double standard when it comes to the amount of time someone spends playing a game or watching tv. Hard to explain so I'll let this meme explain for me..

I forgot to mention the reason why I don't watch tv. Now it's going to sound all hippy like or like I'm some conspiracy nut or something (but I'm not).

It just really pisses me off that there is soo much misinformation and sensationalist journalism in the media today. It seems things have flipped when it comes to news on the internet. I trust the information I see on the interwebs more than I trust whats on the "news". I think it's because it's hard now for someone to provide wrongful information and get away with it online, because there is that ability point out said wrong information. Surely there are cases where this doesn't happen or you get fanboys doing damage control, but for some weird reason the 'media' seems to do whatever they want and get away with it, mainly due to the fact there there are so many stupid people that seem to blindly follow these "news" programs and take every piece of festering garbage they produce as gospel.

    /Rant (I'm sorry about ranting)

Anyhoo how much TV do you watch?

Lately I've pretty much just been watching the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, and nothing else. I used to watch adult swim a lot, but I haven't lately for some reason. I'm not really interested in the mega-popular shows that people are constantly talking about. I have been watching a lot of movies, though.

I don't watch TV. I play it. I get the few shows I actually watch later on YouTube or somewhere on the net. My TV is used only for gaming now. Lately only the Xbox has been using it. Poor Sega stuff has been getting ignored...

I don't watch T.V. at all either , I mean you can't really say 1 - 2 hours a day if I only watch Football on Sundays. My consoles get my T.V.'s attention for the most part unless my wench is watching her random ass weird shows , then I just read online and increase the modding process day by day ;)

I rarely watch live TV and when I do, it's usually the news left on while I get up in the morning. My favorite shows are usually recorded or streamed at my own convenience.

I watch no TV at all.
I watch 2-3 movies a years at most.
I do watch some youtube clips though.

With all the nerdy hobbies I have, I have no time or interest for TV :p

Edit: I few years ago I used to watch Mythbusters though. Still one of the best show ever made imho.

I watch the local news and sports. And I'm usually not just sitting there and actually watching. Instead I'm doing something and then just will have the TV on and mostly listen and look up if something sounds interesting.

I don't watch TV shows or movies on TV, no point to it when Netflix exists. Sometimes I do watch sports but that's it.

IMO it went downhill when they started featuring so many sponsored episodes. They used to make a point of not using brand names on the show except when it was part of the myth like Diet Coke and Mentos, but now just about every episode is "The R.I.P.D.* Ghost Myths Special Presented by Doritos".

*If you think having an R.I.P.D. episode is farfetched, consider that they did one based on that Green Hornet movie nobody saw...

depends on my mood, if i can sleep or not and what i'm watching do you class watching a movie as watching tv? or do you mean general broadcast crap?
I watch documentaries and anything that looks interesting if i catch it, i voted 1-2 hours as i normally watch a movie or as said doc or something maybe sports all depends.

i have crappy internet connection speed so things like netflix are not an option, i still buy dvds as it's quicker than waiting on a download.

None. I actually don't have a cable subscription, so I couldn't watch it even if I wanted. I "sacrificed" TV for a faster Internet connection, and given how I have zero interest in US television sitcoms/dramas/sports/news, I don't regret it one bit.

I live in a student dorm that has a TV in the living room, but I never watch any. I do watch a lot of TV shows (Family Guy, South Park, HBO shows) and movies, but those are streamed online or downloaded and do not count as TV. As for TV, received from a station, I watch zero hours. By watching streams online I can manage my time much better and it's cheaper as well.

I'm with ave here, I don't have cable service and nor will I feel like paying for it since I can get the same shows streamed online for free with no ads.

I think the last time I ever "seriously" watched TV was when LOST was still running on ABC. After so many episodes being delayed for three weeks at a time and whatnot, and so many stupid filler episodes, I was pretty much done with following shows on regular old TV. That was when I was still living with my family, and like most people here, I wouldn't bother paying for cable myself, especially when all I'd probably watch is the Discovery channel and Seinfeld.

Me and my girlfriend mostly just watch Netflix now. At least when you're watching shows on your own time, filler episodes don't matter as much.

Whoops should have read it more thoroughly. I said 1-2 hours but it should be none since I don't have tv any more. I will probably get an antenna and get free tv into my mediapc but who knows how much that will be used probably just for local news.

Zero. TVs are just for the occasional movie and for playing games for me.

The only time I still watch TV is when I visit my parents over Xmas, there's a fairytale on (one of my guilty pleasures) and I have nothing better to do (that pretty much only happens at my parents'). I have a PVM for older games, so no temptation there, and while my HDTV/PC monitor has a tuner, it's seen maybe 10 hours of usage over the last three years (just the ocasional 'turn on, "yeah, still as crappy as I remembered!", turn off' routine).

I watch the shows...On my PC without ads. Only show I got hooked on was Nikita, but now I follow The Blacklist which is fairly interesting. I don't watch them on TV though, TV pisses me off with the same shows plugged every 5 minutes...

I like Formula 1, Tennis and some cartoons.

It's weird a person that doesn't watch tv put in the poll, "hours a day". Are you sure that you don't watch? Cause the first thing I tought was, well, somedays I don't even turn it on. Why every day? You want something like 0,4 hours?

I think that I watch a couple of hours a week. More when there's F1 and I've watched some hours yesterday (Australian Open), but to say every day is a bit extreme. Looks like those older people that watch "novela" every single day.
And why in heaven someone "can" sit to watch tv every day? People don't have nothing to do in their lives? They don't clean the kitchen but watch tv? Why?
