HP Touchpad (did you buy one in the $99/$149 fire sale?)

Ive bought one, for £81 its an awesome XBMC remote at the very least.

 

APE, I was reading up on an article about the snapdragon and it sounds like the processor is fast enough in general (it's a duel core 1.2GHz with 1GB ram, but can be overclocked to 1.6Ghz), any lagy issues in the TouchPad come down to webOS which some homebrew hacks seem to smooth out and make it pretty snappy.

For me personally, I've only disabled the logging stuff and find the responsiveness to be fine. I'll probably try the other tricks later in the week as everybody seems to be on the mindset that it's worth the 10m-30m it takes to do it.

 

Is there any more being shipped out? Some websites say yes, but I'd like to know more or perhaps dates to watch out for.

 

Not 100% sure but some forums seem to be saying that some stores will get more. At least it's been confirmed bestbuy in the USA will get more but only for stores and not online. No clue if that extends into canada.

ATM purchasing though HP has been taken down but maybe in a week when things calmed down it might be back (they have to be sitting on a pretty sizable stack of them).

 

It took like a year to come out, and it lasted less than 2 months

What, couldnt they sell these for $299 and not cancel the entire line?

The Asus transformer went for $399 and was sold out for a while, not everybody has $500 for a barebones ipad.

The worst thing about this firesale are the scalpers: these assholes ordered 8 units on a row, sometimes even 20 units, sp by the time most people got there it was already sold out, and now ebay is literally flooded with touchpads at no less than 300 BUCKS

Even CL is full of these fuckers, most asking no less than 300 bucks

Yeah I hate those shits. I hope many of them get stuck with the unit which they can not return to the store anymore (all sales are final on the TP).

AFAIK is HP who has a lot of units left so they are probably going to ship them from their site
