Not to mention the text above the message was all jumbled code. I've seen some poor imitation emails trying to scam me out of my account, but this is just sad...

yeh, I've gotten two so far.

Make sure you forward the email to paypal @ spoof@paypal.com .

  3. ...I get spoof eBay emails on a daily basis I'm amazed how well my spam filter sorts out the 'wheat from the chaff'.

Am I the only person who never gets these things? My dad has had a few Paypal emails ("What the hell? I don't even know what Paypal is!"), but I've had nothing other than eBay junk mail (the "$1 deals!" type, not the password/account verification).

all i get, and i mean ALL i ever get it those "go from 6 inches to 91" and shite, i dont even visit porn sites, which i would assume they come from, though recently some of my contacts will send me an email with a heading like "happy holidays" or more recently "have a good summer" and thats all, no text in the actual thing, just the heading, and hotmail says it cant verify the senders address, though its identical to my contacts,

ahhh...what do you expect, its microsoft

You'll get them eventually if your e-mail is on a website somewhere, like if you made the mistake of putting it on a guest book, BB, or whatever. These people have bots that go around and harvest email addresses in this manner.

You might also get some random spam from guys who use generators that will go through the dictionary, take each word, slap "@hotmail.com" on the end of it and send away. That's why you should never bother to unsubscribe from spam, as all you're doing is confirming that your e-mail address is valid (and thus you'll just get more spam.)

The strange e-mails from your freinds is problably a result of spoofers using an already confirmed e-mail address. Occasionally I get spam e-mails from myself (or rather, email that has been bounced back to me as undilverable.)

Just shit that happens when you have an email address. Eventually it gets out, companies sell it to other companies, scam artists get a hold of it, etc. I get these paypal spoof emails problably once a month, Nigerian letter scams maybe once a week, stock scams like every single day, etc. Sucks as theres really nothing you can do about it except change your email address every year. I've had the same POP 3 address for like seven years now, and it seems to go in waves (and yes, I always get a wave of porn spam after visiting porn sites. Just admit it, everybody does it.)

I haven't really got much spam at all since I stopped using Hotmail, IE and Outlook Express. I've never got a single spam message on my Gmail account so far!

I`ve had several over the past few days

A colleague had nearly £700 paid to him :)

Thought about sending around loads of accounts until about £500 then clearing it...but then are probably smart enough to have that sussed as well :-(
