Woke up this morning and my backs gone...took me 20 mins to get out of bed
I'm quite fit and healthy and have no idea what caused this, anyone have any idea how to mend me? XD

No idea, except that if it bothers you for several days you should probably see a doctor.

Over the summer, I spent a few days at my friend's lake house. One day I was swimming around near the dock and suddenly my back and shoulder started hurting really bad. I went back and laid down for a while, but it didn't help. It hurt badly for almost a week. Eventually I went to the doctor and he gave me some muscle relaxers, and that seemed to help.

I'm pretty young so it's not like my body's breaking down or something. I have no idea what caused it, except that maybe I slept funny. Shit just happens sometimes.

Tall people tend to have back problems, so maybe that's it (in my case, anyway).

Get a very hot shower. Get the hot water running down your back for as long as you can stand it.
And take some muscle relaxers before the shower too.

TRy to sleep on a hard matress as well.

Forget a shower, have a soak in a nice hot bath for an hour or two.
Tesco were selling Radox for half price last week :)

I feel for you bro... It's hard.

When I get like that I usually get some small seed filled pillows in the microwave and then apply them to the affected area. TRy to stay warm and not to move too much.

Also, if you have a cat, make it walk and knead on your back. It works wonders.

I've had similar things happen but they usually last for less than 5 minutes at the most. Typically involves me sleeping on my back without enough support in the lumbar region, wake up and it has become stiff and refuses to function until I stretch a bit.

    But damn 20 minutes?

That would be more related to bad posture than directly to the height itself.

Are you doing anything out of the ordinary lately. Muscle strain could be the cause.

Thanks for all the tips guys, much appreciated....I did the radox bath and then phoned my doctor and he told me to keep as active as I can all day (nothing strenuous) which has helped keep me loose.

I am still in pain but not as much and I am just going to bed so we will see if I'm still broken in the morning

Odds are you tore a muscle in your back.

Muscle problems can be a side effect of serious conditions.

You should go see the doctor

I have been living with scoliosis since diagnosed nearly 10 years ago.. my back gave me problems since then.. its bearable.. but I have to live with this for the rest of my life..
some muscle relaxant pills and Neuro vitamins helps a lot..

Good thing it was diagnosed when i was 28 years of age, when the body stopped growing, if I were a teeenager, it could be a problem..

My back often hurts in the morning.

I have a cheap metal frame with a fairly thick mattress but it's beginning to soften. The frame itsself has visibly bent underneath my weight.

No numbness/tingling yet but if there is any I'd see a doctor.

Yeah, I definitely have bad posture. I don't understand how you're supposed to correct that, though; it's not like you consciously think about how you're standing while you're doing it.

I'm correcting that by working out in the gym, stressing the effort on the muscles that I use less during the day (the lumbar region and the upper torso and shoulder muscles). That plus some yoga. It's workingout great for me so far

You would want to go see a radiologist first... then have him snapshot your spine and work out how much that "curve" has progressed so far..

with that info, then you can make an appointment with the spine doctor..

Most spine curve's can be treated without the need of surgery.. you do need, however, to apply self discipline with the lifestyle changes during this treatment period, like for my case.. I can no longer sleep sideways.. sitting must be on a chair with solid backsupport, can't do heavy lifting whatsoever.. etc

    best of luck..
