I sent an email to Bungie, and it says:

"Hello, hopefully this is the right place to inquire about this...

Basically, I have weird hands. They have been like this since I was born. They look totally normal, but I don't have knuckles in my thumbs or pinkies. I can bend them all over, and twist them, but they have very constricted right-left movement. The pinkies pretty much have no movement. The thing is though, my hands are incredibly weak because of this. Not too terrible or anything, but nowhere near The Hulk, or even The Average Joe. I drop stuff a lot because of this, and my hands cramp up easily on FPS games, PC and console both. I would show a picture of said hands all bent around, since they look like Arbiter hands, but I don't have anything other then the XBL Vision camera. Anyhow...

Because of this, I have really bad aim. I'm not a terrible player, or the best or anything, but I don't ferociously suck. When people come up close in any Halo, usually I'm the victor, because I'm fast at meleeing and getting shots with something like the Assault Rifle, SMG, or Needler (my favorite!). I like up close and personal fighting, because it's fun. But since I've started climbing the ranks, more and more people snipe, use Battle Rifles, or Rockets, and I pretty much can't hit anything with those. I physically cannot aim fast enough. I use the default sensitivity and control scheme, and was just wondering about some suggestions on what settings might suit me better, or if I'm just going to have to suck it up. Luckily, I usually play with friends who just let me handle up close confrontations, but when I do Lone Wolf, I'd like to be able to at least get more then 2 kills in Shotty/Sniper."

I'll post back if they respond. I think they will, as they have replied (surprisingly) to my other emails about Bungie.net locking up on Opera browser.

Anyhow, yeah, it sucks. I have fun with this game, but I get pissed since I'm now level 16 and such and I have very little chance of winning because of this.

Also, anyone else getting really pissed at other things with Halo 3 online?

It seems like every time I punch someone, no matter how many times after shooting them, or at the same time, I always lose the punch. Everytime I throw a grenade under someones feet, shielded, unshielded, or driving, it doesn't kill them. A grenade/someones hand touches me fully shielded? Dead.

I'm also getting annoyed because I'm mostly playing online to get the achievement, since it's one of the last few I need. It seems like the only way to be "good" at Halo is to be the annoying asshole who does nothing but hides with a sword, shotgun, or sniper rifle. Nobody will actually jump down and fight up close. It's really frusterating when your trying to kick ass and chew bubble gum with two Spikers and some dumbass jumps down and shotguns you, jumps out of a corner with a hammer, etc. Really frusterating, but I guess that's why I should just play with friends on my team, so I can at least laugh about it instead of cuss.

    Yes.

This happnes to me all the time. It's pretty frustrating, actually it's VERY frustrating. I feel like I get ripped off a lot. One strategy that I've started doing is rather than running and shooting toward someone and meleeing, I charge then back-peddle so they're trying to get close for a melee and I just mow them down. I haven't gotten the timing down very good yet. It's proving rather difficult.

The splash damage has been toned down A LOT from Halo 2. It's just something I gotta get used to. I always carry some Brute or Plasma grenades to stick people with. That's a sure way to get a kill.

Hopefully this helps. There's nothing worse than being frustrated when you're trying to play a game for fun. I've found that your mood and anger level DIRECTLY effects how I play in Halo. When I'm pissed off at the game, I suck. When I shrug it off, I don't suck... as much...

Just so you know EVERYONE I know is having issues with melee in Halo 3 it's almost like you have to relearn it.

One thing though if it's close i.e. you and another guy both getting your hits in at the same time. The person with higher health will always win.

    Oh, wow... that's pretty interesting...

I can't figure out how much I should shoot someone before meleeing. It seems to vary. Some guys can put like 4 rounds with AR then melee and I'm dead. While other times I hit them with half a clip and melee and they survive. It's just something to get used to I guess.

Yeah, I knew about the health thing, but it still pisses me off. I swear to god, grenades kill me in one hit, but mine don't do shit. And I definitly think twin Spikers should be killing faster then an AR. I have found that plasma rifles pretty much don't even hurt them aside from shields, but if you melee after the shields gone, it kills.

I'm so fed up with the way people play the game, I don't think I'm going to be playing online after I get the achievements. It's zero fun for me. Unless it's with friends, I'm staying off Halo 3 multiplayer after I get those.

Seriously, people act like that shit is super important. My whole team quit but me and another guy, so me and another guy on red team kept honking the mongoose horn at each other. Then his team was like WOMFG and hunted us down, like we even stood a chance. Retarded.

I'm also sick of people doing nothing but hiding with swords, rockets, sniper, hammer, shotgun, etc. Duh, I know those are important weapons, but it's cheap as fuck to sit behind a wall ducking and sword anyone walking up to you. Stupid. I just like the close up fighting, grenade chucking, meleeing action of Halo games, not sit in a fucking corner and be a cheap asshole because I GOTTA WIN. Seriously.

AR is pretty much worthless. 3 - 6 shots from the BR follwed by a melee should kill.

Remember the trio, grenade+shoot+melee = death

I'm not sure if I'm getting lag or not as I'm more then willing to blame my sucky FPS skills first.

PhreQuencYViii: I hear you and it's one of things that I detest about Halo's gameplay I don't have time or a care to MEMORIZE a map and weapon spawns and respawn times. It's why I appeciate the COD or RB6 model if I want to be a sniper, fine I'll be sniper. I DO NOT want to run to a certain spot on the map and claim the "weapon" denying to others even if I suck at it (which is what I normally do, deny it to the other team) this type of gameplay may be fine in serious competition but for casual gameplay it just sucks. I have a life, I do not have time to memorize everything .

    Yeah.

Well the strategy with the BR doesn't work for me, if you read the letter I sent, lol. I fare better with the Carbine though.

I only need 10 more EXP for the achievement though, so after that I'm done.

The thing I don't like about the melee is that I can't set it to be the right thumbstick. I use that one to change direction (only choice), and in Halo 2 I had it set up where I could just press down on it to melee. It was easy to move and press, but now I have to take my finger off the right trigger and press the right button.

I didn't see any reason to make grenades less effective. It's not like everyone was going around getting kills with grenades all the time.

The hogs feel a lot slower. And splattering people has become waaaaaaaay to easy with the ghost. I got 12 in a recent game. I remember being happy if I got 4-5 in one game.

They also changed the timing on some of the guns. The battle rifle is slower to fire and the sniper takes longer between shots.

Does the energy reducer/recharger ball really take that much energy away from the opponent? And since the radar bomb works against you I've been using it a lot less than I first did. It just tends to make me just as confused.

I can't ever splatter anyone =( I can run right over them, nothing.

Yeah, reducer is instant, recharger is just fast.

All these things are just slight changes that we have to get used to. I don't think they're necessarily problems. It's just different than Halo2 which I've been playing for the last 3 years. Overall, the multiplayer is leaps and bounds above Halo2. I remember matches where a person could go through an entire round with sword and completely dominate. Now it's a lot more balanced. It seems like it requires a lot more skill to be good at Halo3 than it did in Halo2. That's just my opinion. Sure there's some frustrating elements but I was frustrated when I played Halo2 for the first time, too.

I actually hate the new grenade number restrictions. I'm a big fan of the sticky grenade, ever since halo 1, and now they only let you carry two at a time.

Even so, I was trying to level up, and was owning the rooms I got in, until I started playing with some friends. Didn't take me too long to get my first head stick from afar in halo 3. The melee thing did get me a few times as well.

the shooting+melee is so weird. The person with higher health wins? I hate that. No way to have crical come backs!

as for hogs being slower: they can out run a mongoose. you can actually hear them shift gears now, the hog has slow acceleration but high top speed.

As for map memorization: It doesn't take much. Seriously, I don't want to sound mean but I haven't even played my own copy yet, just a friends when he wasn't playing and I know all the maps I've played so far. Prequency if you've played the game as much as you say you have to advance in ranking to the point where those people know the spawn points, you should too.

just saying. It didn't take me long to learn weapon spawns in Halo 1, 2 or 3. the maps aren't very confusing, they're very straight forwards (with the exception of Chrion TL34 on Halo 1)

Yeah, you can screw around in forge and learn the maps and all that shit...

but I'd rather play the fucking game. I wanna run around shooting stuff, throwing grenades, honking mongoose horns, and punching people.

Not worry about where people are going to crouch with shotguns, although yes, I have learned of stuff like that.

we weren't even talking about forge. I'm talking about just playing the damn game. If you play the game,a nd you see the sniper. You should be able to remember where the sniper spawns. Halo's levels are designed with weapon locations in obvious places, it's not like Quake where you're going to have to hunt around for a rocket launcher.

I knew Snowbound the second time I played it. I knew where every weapon was, where every grenade type was.

it's not hard. How about instead of bitching because other players don't have ADD and actually think while playing a game instead of turning off their brains, you just give what they do a try.

    http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=PhreQuencY8

    Total Games 105
    Matchmade Games 74
    Custom Games 11
    Campaign Missions 20
    Highest Skill 22
    Total EXP 59

105 games? That's more than I have played. You have no excuse to not know weapon locations or what area's of the maps have an advantage.

Well that sounded a little nasty.

I simply meant forge is a good way to remember the maps.

If you read my email to Bungie, you would find it does me zero good to memorize where the sniper spawns.

I don't remember saying I don't remember where weapons spawn anyway.

If you got that idea from that post, it was me commenting on what JPGames had to say.

As I understand it, thats the only one they're remaking for the set of new maps...

... which would probably cost us $19.99 or something ridiculous. :-(

In so far as Halo 3 and the skills:
In so far as I've observed, all the "best" and "highest ranked" players are what they are not by being skilled, but by learning the "bullshit" they can pull off. The dude squating in the corner with the shotgun, the guy that keeps checking up on the cloaking or overshields, the guys that are constantly checking for the sword/gravity hammer/rockets, etc.

I dunno, its my opinion that ranking up too high is a bad thing, because then you're just playing a bunch of people who aren't really playing the game, but are just being cheap bastards (though please keep in mind that there ARE ways around EVERYTHING I just listed, this isn't like Chromehounds where the game is just broken). So, enjoy the game, play at the skill level you're at and be happy.

Yeah, Henners, shotguns are fine for close combat, but this is what I meant. When you get to the higher skill levels, which I have because I'm trying to get the EXP for the achievement, this is pretty much what the whole game turns into. I'm talking free for all, it doesn't happen as bad on Team Slayer. I don't do Team Slayer with random people though, so I'm just been doing quicker Lone Wolf.

It just gets very frusterating when you end up losing first place because some dude is sitting in a corner with a hammer, etc. I don't wanna do that kind of stuff. If it pisses me off, I bet it'll piss other people off, and I don't wanna be a dick. So yeah, I'm bitching, but it really does get frusterating, but on the same hand, I've had some very strategic fights underneath Snowbound, since now I have pretty good ways of taking down shotgunners, snipers, etc.

Side note, anyone else beat Legendary on solo? I'm proud of myself.

It's part of the game. That's like saying you hate when there is a barrage of bullets on a bullet hell shoot'em up.
