So I was leaving my local Hollywood Video/Game Crazy today and I saw one of their associates with a huge bag of what appeared to be Xbox 360 and Wii game cases heading for the dumpster. I promptly flipped a U-turn and pulled up next to the guy asking, "Hey you tossin' those in the trash?" Him: "Yeah." Me: "Uh can I grab those from you?" Him: "All of them?!" Me: "Yep." I tossed the bag in my trunk and drove home to sort it out.... The bag...this thing must weigh at least 40-50lbs: I then sorted everything out: The numbers are as follows: PS2 - 3 cases PS3 - 19 cases Wii - 29 cases Xbox - 20 cases Xbox 360 - 76 cases All of the games with labels still have their respective instruction manuals. And these were also in the bag: I guess I'll never have to worry about getting spare cases for any of my games in the future...and I have 100's of double feature rentals  ...To think this was gonna end up in the trash...
Hahahahahaha! I know what you mean! And Goodjob nabbing all those cases! One lucky man you are! One mans trash is another mans treasure...
Yeah...I almost sh*t myself when I saw him approaching the dumpster with that bag. I am going to be out of town for work for the next month but if anyone wants any cases, when I get back I may post a thread to get off some of these.
Damn for a moment i thought that those cases contained all games xD! Thats a truly incredible found!! Congrats!
Pretty cool, but what do you plan on doing with them besides just letting them sit there and look cool?
Well I have a grip of games/demos that need to be in cases that I have been meaning to sort- I'm glad I held out on buying a bunch of cd/dvd clamshell and jewel cases a couple weeks ago at CompUSA a couple weeks ago. Also know some people looking for spares or trying to get a couple games in a real case rather than a cardboard sleeve....and I'm a pack rat!! I could not pass this up ;-)
Man I never find anything it the garbage......except that weird can with glowing blue stuff labelled "Pluto..." Oh well, at least is warm to the touch:nod: Those are probably rental games, and like most rental places they use their own cases instead of the originals, and they throw them away to clear up some space in the store. And if you think thats crazy you havent seen nothing yet. Some years ago a store near my house decided to throw a bunch of Virtualboy units in mint state into a wood chipper cuz they needed the space, instead of say, put them on sale for a fiver...
THis is great for reconditioning used games with crappy cases. You wouldn't believe how many music CDs I cannibalized to recondition used PlayStation games. Great find!
