You ever have one of those buyers who tryes to cheat you because he thinks you screwed up the description. Heres the story anyways. I listed the following on Ebay to make some quick cash to pay a bill. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260148608203&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=016 The computer usually sells for 200$+ on Ebay but to get the cash fast I set the BIN at the low price of $150. Thats a great deal for that PC especially with all its paperwork and windows and stuff. So anways the guy buys it now and pays through paypal. I sent out the PC the next day and he gets it like 5 days later or something. This morning I have a email from him. It says that the PC is not a described in my auction. He says there are 2 problems. First he says that its not Hyper-Threading. Well I said in my description that it "may be Hyper-Threading" I said may be because I didnt know for sure one way or the other. I looked on Yahoo and found a couple people who said it did and some who didnt. When I tryed to look on Dell.com I type in the model of the PC and it comes up and says, that model is no longer supported, please check out PC xxxxxxxxx insted -_- So hes mad about that. Second I listed the FSB at 800Mhz and he says its 533MHz. Well I provided several sites that say its 800Mhz but he dosent belive them. So then he asks what I will do to make it right. I offered him some other PC parts and stuff but he only wants half the price back. He wants 75$ and says 150$ was way to much for the PC, even thought there are 50 others on Ebay right now with not as much crap as the one I sold going for 200+ He says if I dont give him half back he will file complaints with Ebay on me. My auction clearly states that I dont do refunds or returns. He also says he has worked for Dell for 10 years and knows all about them. If thats true why did he buy my PC knowing that things may have been incorrect in the description? I have already contacted ebay and filed with them to investigate this but I just wanted to get it off my chest and see what you guys think. :rambo:
He's talking big but someone that worked for Dell for 10 years would not need to buy a cheap PC. I don't trust ebay but I think you're in the right on this one.
I dont want to be a ass to him but really... $150 was a steal for that PC, he bought it in like 3 hours of me listing it. I could maybe give 10 or 20 back but not half the price. I still dont have a way to tell if hes lying or not, he says its only 533FSB but thats just his word. Even if it is, I sold it as no refunds. People these days are so hostile, he could easly put a old monitor with that and resell it on Ebay for 200-250$ but insted he picks on the guy who gave him the deal
$75 is kinda steep for minor details, if you could find out if the motherboard does support 800MHz and HT then you can avoid further problems, but if the 800MHz is not even supported by the MB then I guess you should offer him something but not half price, more like 30/40$ off the price or something.
Here you go: The Dimension 4600's motherboard uses the Intel 865PE chipset, supporting Pentium 4 processors with an 800MHz frontside bus. Source: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-dimension-4600-pentium/4505-3118_7-30529709.html
If it get's really dirty you could also look for a cheap P4 2.8 800FSB on ebay, with some luck you should be able to find them for around $40 or less See here a brandnew one for $49 http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Intel-P4-2-8Ghz-478-HT-512K-FSB-800-Northwood-2-8_W0QQitemZ140147055661QQihZ004QQcategoryZ80143QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem So secondhand should be cheaper
I dont think he will do that. I am going to stand fast for now. I am being more then nice to the guy seeing as how I dont even have to do anything because my auction states No Returns or Refunds. I dont think he can do anything other then leave me negitive feedback and whine to Ebay, although Ive already talked with Ebay. lol, the Ebay guy I was chatting with told me to just tell him that my auction said no refunds and leave it at that.
Since you quoted the memory as DDR 333 then he has no comeback on the FSB, as it wouldn't run at that speed anyway.
wow what a retarded buyer you state : "Please study the photos carefully and ask any questions you may have before placing your bid, I don't do returns and never have" so he can't complain as you did state no returns. also if you provided several sites that say its 800Mhz but he dosent belive them then there is nothing he can do. i think if you sit tight and wait for what ebay has to say/do i think this whole thing will end up good in your favour as he does like a right retard and doesn't really know whats he is doing
He didnt ask about anything before he bought it either. He could have had me look into those things better or explained to me how to but he knew it was a hell of a deal, so he grabbed it up as fast as he could before someone else beat him to it.
Just because you put "no refunds" doesn't mean that he can't or won't complain to Paypal to get his money back.
My recommendation: Don't do PCs or laptops on ebay. Period. Seriously, it seems like every time I try to list a computer or parts on ebay, I always get the worst people.
If he's such a bitch about the FSB then ask him to run CpuZ and then send you a JPG with the details. That will also show if the P4 has HT or not.
Im not going to anymore after this, its so stupid I swear. Even if he files with paypal I have a great case and I can use this tread as backup. Not to mention the fact that I dont have anything but 5 dollars in my account because I used it all to pay bills If he knows about computers and is trying to scam me then he could easly swap the CPU out real quick because all 4600 boards support 800 FSB and HT. I dont know why its a big deal with that PC anyway. Its just a work PC. Its not going to handle anything like graphics editing or games very well, it only had 256megs of ram.
Tell him to go fuck himself - if you want to give him his money back, make his ass return the computer. Make him pay for shipping it back to you, do not reimburse him for it. Take the return on your terms, and if he doesn't like it, screw him. You got to be tough with these fools else they walk all over you.
hes throwing a fit like I sent him a bag of dog shit insted of the PC. On that computer the FSB wouldnt even matter. He says its old and dated and dosent suit his needs.... BECAUSE THE FSB IS 533 AND NOT 800! Maybe if it was a Core 2 Duo with 4 gigs of ram and a 8800Ultra I could see a issue if the FSB was incorrect but on a old junker from dell? He dosent want a full return either, hes never even said anything about it lol. The only thing he wants to do is keep the PC and get 75 cash back! He wants the PC at a dirt cheap price. So far the only thing he is doing (or so he says) is filing a complaint with Ebay lol. Anyone know what Ebay will do other then talk to me about it. I have never had any problems with Ebay before in 4 years I have been a member?
