Has anyone worked there? Or know someone that has worked there? It seems like it would be a pretty good job, being around movies all day, free rentals and such. Any bits of info would be great!

Since they waive late fees it's not so bad. My wife used to be a manager at one and supposedly that was where most of the agro came from. Retired New Yorkers dripping in diamonds complaining about paying a few bucks because they were too lazy to drive over and return a movie.

    Good luck!

I have a few friends that have worked there (and one who still does). They hate it and want to die.

    It's a job, though :)

Indeed it's a job & theres worse things you could be doing for a job.

You may like it or you might hate it but you wont know till youv'e tried.

    Eitherway good luck :)

After working in factories during various periods of college I can safely say there are MANY jobs worse than working in retail. Just think of the $$$!

Don't lean forward or backward, don't fold your arms, make eye contact, if they ask why you want to work for them. Push the fantastic opportunity/would love to work for a reputable family orientated company etc.

    Works everytime.

be sure to remember the body language techniques he gave you too. That's shit might seems silly, but it does really have an impact.

Don't bad mouth your last jobs
Do talk about how you like to help people when they need it
Don't try to sweet talk the person conducting the interview
Do mention knowledge of movies and games you have

Wait to ask about benefits, wages etc at the end, when they ask if you have any more questions (unless they volunteer the info before hand).

Dress in a shirt and tie, even though it is blockbuster.

I had a friend back in the day who worked there - He hated the job so much that he stole the Manager's authorization code, marked down 500 videos to one cent each, then bought them all. He said they couldn't get him arrested since technically he didn't steal them (which sounded like bullshit to me, but he did have the videos to prove it.)

He got fired - but that was the idea in the first place.
