I've just got the Panasonic M2 FZ-35S, and have a few questions.

The IT guy in my company told me the other day company has the Panasonic M2 FZ-35S development kit they wanted to get rid off. I asked him to give it to me, and he did.

This here is exactly what it is, I just don't have the box or the manual. The link is a google translated french web site, and it's the most detailed web site I could find.

As it says on that site, this unit cannot play Audio CDs, or DVDs, but I tried them regardless (it didn't play them, of course). Other than that, it seems to be in the perfect working condition - hard to be 100% sure of course, as I don't have any software, but the "insert disc" message displays fine on my NTSC TV using S-Video cable, and the drive spins the discs I put in, before the "insert disc" message comes back on. The IT guy told me he'll look for whatever software came with it and give it to me if he finds anything. He also told me that in the jumble of boxes behind his desk, must also be the Macintosh computer that was part of this dev kit.

    Now questions:
    1. Where can I find games and other software for M2? Ebay doesn't seem to have any. Does this developers unit even run M2 games? As far as I can see, the specs are the same as the 'regular' M2 console, with even more memory, but it doesn't have the gamepad controller (there's a port for it though). Maybe games could work with keyboard?

    2. If I decide to sell it (in case I don't find any software) how much money can I expect to get for it?

    3. Should I ask him to sell me the Macintosh computer that goes with the dev kit? What could I expect to do/develop with it, and what kind of ebay price the complete set with Macintosh could reach?

Here we go, down this same old road again

    1. No games, but you can run some discs that will tell you all you want to know about Chevy cars and trucks.

    2. $30 - $40. They are on eBay all the time around this price.

    3. Sure if you want, but that isn't M2 dev. hardware. It's a Panasonic Kiosk that used M2 Technology, or so they say.

Thanks for your quick response. I see that this must be a common knowledge here, but I really couldn't find any sold info on this unit.

Is the reason why it doesn't run M2 games related to hardware (that is to say, lack of some of the key M2 hardware components) or something simpler, like the lack of controller?

The company I work for used to develop some stuff that could be run on this unit. Would that macintosh also have some disc authoring software and hardware?. That's why I asked what exactly could be developed on this - because I wasn't too sure this is a 'real' M2 dev kit unit.

Borman, serious question - what would you do with it? I'm just aking because I'd like to know what to do with it :\

I'd at least want to try it out before selling it.
