Not to veer too far OT, Taemos, but I never figured you for the kinda guy that buys cocaine! Not that its any of my business, and not that I know that much to figure you for stuff, but it just strikes me as odd. Whatever.

For clarification (and since AntiPasta brought it up ;)), I've only done cocaine a handful of times and it's not at all something I'd do on a regular basis. It's a pretty "bad" drug and I don't think it should be legal in any form, unless of course it was used in a medical environment (which it is, anyway).

You Americans seem to have a pretty "liberal" drug policy (in society). Pretty much how you portrait The Netherlands.

I find that the smaller the town I live in, the bigger pains-in-the-rump the cops become, i.e. hassling you for useless stuff like playing your music too lound or forgetting to signal.

In Los Angeles police tend to not be jerks as much (contrary to popular opinion,) main reason being there is real crime to deal with. Generally something innocent like forgetting to turn your headlights on, a rolling stop, or the like just get a friendly warning if it's not ignored in the first place, where as in the smaller towns in the suburbs you'd get ticketed for these minor offenses.

The downside of this though is that unless a crime is serious it doesn't get much attention from them. Thus, a home invasion robbery gets more attention than some dude just breaking into your car and ganking your stereo. It's a sad fact that police work has to be prioritized, and unless someone gets hurt or there's a significant dollar amount of theft or property damage it's unlikely much will be done about it, especially when there's drug dealers and the like running around - whereas in the suburbs where the cops are all bored, six cars will show up to break up a party.

One thing they are though is violent, at least in this city. I know that from first hand experience.

Ah, thanks for clearing this up. I'm not judging you in any way, while I've never used something hard I'm a pretty bad drinker and used to smoke a lot of grass back in the day. All I have on my list of drugs-to-try-in-the-near-future is LSD, but the thing is, with all this easily attainable weed I know no one who can supply it. All I due time I guess :)

The Police here are great at driving around, finding young drivers to follow and pull over for no reason. Then they'll find things wrong with their car, costing them a fortune.

We had a disturbance here last year. There is a language school in my town, for foreigners to learn English. We are a host family - we take in these students for the school. Anyway, we had 2 15 year old boys, French. They were out in a group of about 15, and got picked on by some chavs. They followed them home - and they came to the nearest house - ours.

My Mum opens the door to find a bunch of people outside. The local louts were attacking them - she had to try and get the French boys in without lettin the louts in. They didn't like this. They picked up a rock from our garden, and threw it at the front door, chipping it. Then they jumped on the roof of our car.

We had already called the Police, we then called the school. The head of the school arrived within 10 minutes, and waited an hour with us for the Police to turn up. They took statements, looked at the car, I pointed out footprints, a big dent in the roof, and what looked like spit or some kind of viscous bodily fluid. They said they'd send the forensics people (or whatever - I think they used another word) in the morning. Of course, it rained that night, so it all washed away.

Anyway, they found the people months later, or some of them. I think they got fined £50 and released. We had a damaged front door, a caved in car roof... and we received nothing.

Wow, I didn't know chavs were *that* nasty... over here they (well, what I figure for the local equivalent) would maybe call you names or something, hardly damage one's car for letting in a few people they were attacking for no reason...

Ok here goes something that has been nagging for a while in Denmark.

There has been numerous of robberies of people lately. Which started with people who were "wealthy" . And this tendency started last year with people getting robbed while they were in one of their houses. And the police said untill new year, that the crimes weren´t related and all that crap. Even though the MO was the same or similar every time. Then 11 days ago, a 81 year old lady was being robbed, but since she didn´t have any money. Then she was beat up, and some sick perverted bastard fingered her in the vaginal area. Aka. sexuallu assualted her. And the police on Funen didn´t do squat untill TV2 Nyhederne took the case up this night at the news. So speak of the devil, how much shit shall you go through to get some fucking cop, to remove their fingers from their own wellfingered arse. Before they show up and do their bidding ?

last year there was 32 or so similar robberies, and what is the magic number that turns robberies of an exact or similar MO into a tendency ?

And at the same time, the police has said they can´t do anything about death threats, or violence because they don´t have the resources to do it. To that is like a green light for the criminals to go ahead with their crimes of me and other common people. Heck I read in the local newspaper (about a month ago). About some foreign people , fucked up a private party with violence and threats. And when the police came , then they threatened the people who reported the incident. To redraw their statements, or else they would be arrested for disturbing the "peace". What the fuck is that all about ? my local police threatened people into redrawing their statements, or else they arrested for disturbing the peace ?

the local and the local policeis not the same at all. The local ghetto town police are the local and they are here from 14:00 till 16:00 normal week days and on Thursdays they are here untill 22:00 (sitting inside their small office probably) and writing reports. And the weirdest part is, there are two police men, and a third as a substitute. When there are 13.000 people living here, and well it is crazy and fuckedup. And the normal local police is in the neighbouring municipality. And they won´t show up without being fully armed and with a dog at their side. When they venture out here after dark.
