Count me also as on the waiting for images of the find bandwagon (the joys of being a student).

Wow, lots of new users asking for pictures. LEARN TO READ!!

You put your money where your mouth is, or shut up. When Kev has the money, he'll post pictures AND NOT BEFORE.

    To be fair, this...

...could be interpreted as "Want to see the pics? Post to get your spot in line."

    That's also my interpretation.
I would love to see what this is about, if the criteria for chosing the viewers could be detailed this kind of confusion would not be happening.

like many people the question must be... what is the purpose of not showing us what it is you have to sell. it is only natural to be suspicious..

likely assumptions are that you are actually raising the money so you can buy this and dont want to get scooped or that the value of what you are selling will be contentious and you want to control the perception of your potential customers.

Also I will leave this here

I am having a bit of a joke here - hopefully you wont take this as trolling....

I'm very sure we're all interested in seeing what he got.

I thought it was pretty obvious that us laymen are going to have to wait until he decides he is ready to unveil his findings.

    PM sent!

Wish I could come across a container worth of random dev hardware from the 90s! :congratulatory:
But I guess I am just not that lucky / on the wrong side of the world...

What is the point of making the pictures by invitation only? And what's stopping one of these "VIP"s you let see the pictures from leaking them out? Seems a bit odd to me. If you going to show anybody on the Internet, you might as well show everybody.

I understand not posting pictures for 2 reasons: 1) You haven't actually gotten around to taking them yet 2) Posting pictures would jeopardize a deal that is relying on privacy.

I'm massively interested to see what they are - Dare I mention SNES CD optimistically?
I’m also interested to know who VIP board members are … Is it based only on post count or reputation from buying / selling?

I've been offered one of these once in a life time deals in the past and missed the chance to get a container full of New old stock items that someone went on to sell for great profit. You really need to have big savings or be prepared to take a loan out to do these sorts of things. I didn't man up at the time and missed out - so full respect to Kevin.

I've got another potential chance to do something similar, so I'm working hard to make sure it happens. For all the people that think this is pure luck, I'm sure Kevin will attest, you need to put yourself out there and make sure people know you are the one who would be interested, you also have to do a lot of leg work.

Indiana Jones didn't sit in his lecture hall waiting for the holy Grail to be handed to him. He had to go out and get it ;)

I can understand that Kevin is a bit cautious here. He only wants to show pictures to real collectors who have the money to spare, to people who really are interested in Nintendo history and stuff. He doesn't want to deal with a lot of maybe-scenarios and I respect that. If it is possible from a secrecy standpoint to show pictures later after deals have been finalised some of the buyers will probably make some or shed some light on what they bought in another way.

Apart from that - what Mqark said. There's lots of interesting stuff out there depending what you're looking for. One of my PCs at home is running a pre-release model of an AMD crossfire-capable mainboard of their first generation of those, the retail units were later manufactured by Sapphire but mine has lots of (undocumented) extra connectors and even a bios from a different manufacturer.
Sometimes you stumble across these, sometimes you hunt, and on even fewer occasions it pays off.

More or less sounds like it. He suggests the possibility of showing pictures later.

Video game collecting is not an expensive hobby, so when crazy stuff comes around it has very few people
who can bring together a good chunk of money.

True. It's too bad I don't give as much of a **** about Xbox as I should. I'd have so many more games with the prices pawn shops may dump them at.

Then again crippling lack of space.

I doubt he'd be selling SNES CD hardware for $750, surely?

I'd guess Sony have the SNES CD related stuff at their HQ since it was their baby wasn't it?

What I'm most interested in is time frame for this to happen. At this point I have money on hand but don't keep it around forever at this point. (paying down debt) I know the original post says to be ready immediately but when do you expect this to go down. It's obvious that you don't have these in hand yet but do you think it will take a week? a Month? 6 Months? A little clarification is needed.
