This post is made in good faith and a friendly tone although most other people would be angry by this time. I hate to complain but it's been something like 6 months since I paid Diddydon for a PS1 mouse but have yet to receive it. I understand that he is busy pursuing other aims at the time being, but I was hoping that members fulfill their obligations - even when they aren't active on the forum. I am making this post because I have no other means of contacting him. I would like to have my PS1 mouse for I am unable to play some games I purchased back in the summer, thus making their purchase pointless if there's no mouse to play them with - more wasted money? I hope for your understanding and assistance in contacting our (apparently) former member and of course I m open to advice.
I know this doesn't help what Diddydon has done, but I think a local store has the PS mouse in stock for not that much $$$. I could pick it up and send it out... not sure how much shipping would be to your neck of the woods. I wouldn't charge any mark up. Let me know if that would help and I can let you know what the store is charging.
I know Andy (Diddydonn) pretty well and I've been trying to get a couple of items sorted out with him for an equally long period of time. Not that it helps, but I know that Andy has (does) frequently suffer from bouts of prolonged and difficult ill health. Like me, he also suffers from terrible memory. Mine due to my accident, him due to being an arse lol. (Joke) Far from me to defend him, but my impression is that he has been struggling to keep his head above water for several months and drifts in and out of ill health. I've had a few serious conversations with him where I thought he was close to needing me to run down to England and make sure he didn't do anything daft. I really don't want to go into it, but suffice to say. He's not intentionally messing you around. I've reminded him several times about the PS mouse as BC and I know one another too. I've also spoken at length about the Japanese Xbox titles he and I were trading, but tbh I have let it slide as he really has been ill. How much did you pay him BC? I have a PayPal account, and as I am in the UK and could probably go visit him when I am coming back from my frequent London trips, I have probably got more opportunity to either obtain the mouse or get the money back from him. However, he is a decent guy, seriously! I think things just slid out from under him and he's not fully got back on his feet. I honestly doubt he'll be back on here for a very long time.
I had a similar problem with him early last year with a trade where he supposedly sent it out twice and then began ignoring my PMs. Diddydon got my xbox betas but I never got that Heavenly Sword promo in return. It really sucks to lose out like that, but nothing you can really do about it after a certain point. That is actually the reason I suggested there be separate feedback threads here ala Digital Press, as that would be more useful in finding people who have the tendency to do these sorts of things. I recommend warning other people about him (as you have done) and moving on. If Parris can help you though, that would be great.
I'll do what I can, but as I said, Andy has probably / potentially forgotten about our trade too. Problem being, I can't even remember the details of it myself now. God damned memory loss! :banghead:
I cannot help but feel a double standard here, even if he's well liked I'm having difficulty believing not checking your e-mail and typing a 3 sentence response in 6 months time though. Just my 2 cents.
Double standards? Not sure what you are driving at. As I say I am not defending him or condoning any lax attitude, merely offering to shed a little light on the situation. I'm not really at liberty to discuss his health issues. I don't mind discussing my own from time to time, but not other peoples without their prior knowledge or consent. I am pointing out that I know things got really, really bad for him and he hasn't fully recovered. That is all I really feel I can say. However, as I know BC and had previously spoken to Diddydonn about the PS mouse I am offering to sort that one out. Not really able to sort out any other sour deals or situations that may / may not have occurred. I'm not Andy's keeper or accountant I do count Andy as a friend, and know him pretty well, however even I have found him pretty distant over the last few months and as I say a particular deal I was in the middle of with him appears to also have been forgotten about. The difference being that my transaction was between friends and you can pick up on these things later. When it comes to things between acquaintances however, it is different. They are not privy to information, or should they be expected to wait. This situation is counter to how he normally is. He isn't an active AG member anymore, I know him, I shall do what I can to see whether I can resolve this amicably. If not, BC will get a refund from me and I shall talk to Andy about it once he is in better health. That's what mates do I guess!
thank you all for your replies, I paid 14 GBP for the mouse, what have u got in mind P? Also, where do you live Midwinter?
...Well he last visited here 2 days ago so if any of you have pm'd him I'm guessing he would of seen them.
BC send me your paypal details via PM, I'll send you a refund - buy a mouse from MidWinter. I'll get the £14 back off Andy sometime. £14 for a PS1 mouse though? Blimey was it boxed and minty? I used to pick them up loose for 50p a few years back. He may visit, he doesn't reply / doesn't contribute so far as I can tell. No idea why, but as I say on this one occasion I am prepared to sort it out as I know you both and I did previously state I would try and help you out mate. It's been mentioned a few times to Andy. It's clearly not high on his priority list and given what he's been through of late, I can kind of understand it a bit. It may also be partly because he no longer has a PayPal account, so refunding becomes a little more awkward. He'll just owe me a few pints ;-) Not getting involved in anything else as that's not my problem, take it up with Diddydonn if you can if he ever replies.
I bought two PS3 promos from him last year and didn't get them. One of which was Heavenly Sword. I saw another person had been sold Heavenly Sword, maybe we were promised the same disc?
I know for a fact Andy had multiples of these titles. We both bought loads from a woman selling them on eBay for next to nothing. I still have mine, but didn't buy Heavenly Sword. She must have realised the promos were worth more than she was asking for them as a week later they were up to the usual amount. Initially they were a few ££ per disc on BIN. Sigh! Looks like things slipped worse than I thought, and not just the one or two items I knew about. He may show up and speak for himself, which is always better than someone <like me> coming in and saying anything out of turn. His health is after all a private matter. BC pm me mate ;-)
Barcode: I reminded Andy via email and he has replied that he'll contact me to confirm it has gone out this week, otherwise I will refund you.
Sad to hear of a member's ill health. I hope things improve for him. I know from experience how hard it can be to deal with outstanding issues when you have such issues. Hopefully he'll be able to at least speak with those who are waiting for items, and they will be relatively understanding of his situation. It's not good to see a member get a bad rep due to circumstances out of their control, either! Pass on my best wishes, Parris. I'm sure those wishes can be extended to represent (the majority of) the community here ;-)
Well, this sucks. I thought that guy was pretty funny, liked reading his posts. He went back to school didn't he?
It seems bizarre that he would reply so quickly to Parris but not Barc0de directly. And not here, where a lot of questions/issues are being raised. Hopefully he feels better and this all gets resolved. I am surprised so many have been affected when trading with him. Perhaps he should just refund everyone that is awaiting their stuff and call it quits.
Many many thanks for your assistance Parris. Please give my best regards to Andy and I hope that he gets through whatever it is that's burdening him lately. Looking forward to that mouse and any extra bits thrown in there!:icon_bigg
