Anyone here remember the thread he posted about the guy that threatened him? It was a long story, but the short version is that some mental guy bought a set of speakers from him. They were Bose, but rebadged by Packard Bell. He bought a bulk load of them (9 sets if I remember rightly). He sold 7 sets without any issues, all very good comments on quality and price in feedback etc. Well, the mental guy contacted PayPal stating they were fake. He verbally threatened Andy when he stated (and I saw the eBay listing and NOTHING indicated that Andy was selling them as anything other than what they were) that Andy was selling them as 'BOSE' and his listing was not only misleading but broke all sorts of trading standards regulations. Right, well Andy relied heavily on his eBay / PayPal account because he was trying to establish at that time a small home run business. He had done everything legit, had set himself up as a company etc. Due to his ill health, working from home was best option. The Police got involved when the mental dude started saying things like 'I know what car your wife drives' etc. Net result Andy doesn't get the speakers back, eBay are perfectly happy to let the buyer "claim" he had destroyed, plus he gets a refund. This is despite weeks of intimidation and Andy being fearful for his wife's safety and that of the kids. His already poor health slumped! He stopped posting so much on here, he let things slide and through a series of unfortunate circumstances (outwith his control in most instances, such as the benefits agency screwing up his housing claim etc) he lost his business, the PayPal account and a lot of his health! It wasn't a huge loss, but his confidence already low, took a massive dive. I've had some of the hardest conversations online with Andy as this is a genuine nice guy who really hit rock bottom and felt under siege. He'd not come on here and say all this himself, because he is a proud guy. I'm saying it because I know what shit he's had to endure and a few things did go very wrong in his life. He's not coped well, but he is getting better and I really thought at one point that he was on the verge of a complete breakdown. He replies to my emails mainly because throughout the last couple of years he and I have maintained a weekly pep talk to keep one another going. He knows about my accident, I know about his circumstances. However, the good news is that he is at college, has started to pick things up again, but is still coasting, which given the previous year of his life I think is a remarkable achievement. As a mate, if I can sort out the few remaining issues lurking around on AG (as I am here from time to time), then I will, especially as if I know the circumstances and the people involved, like BC it can get done swiftly. I hope! I didn't realise anything was still outstanding. Can't bail him out each time I come across something, but that said, let me know and I shall do my best to resolve things even if it mean I speak to Andy on AG members behalf. Hope everyone understands, can we perhaps draw a line in the sand in this one, a mod perhaps lock / delete thread. If there are any outstandings on Andy's behalf, please let me know. I'll do what I can, but keep in mind, this guy lost his business. He'd never do any of this shit to anyone intentionally. Suffice to say when you are down, sometimes you don't notice things piling up and issues become overwhelming.
A sad story for him and I am glad it improved. But if he couldn't mail out the stuff he sold to people, why not just refund them? It makes no sense to me, other than he didn't have the money. However, that is unacceptable as an excuse, since these people paid him.
Seriously, I'm not making excuses and I hope it doesn't come across that way! I don't want to dig a bigger hole for Andy. The posts I have made are my own point-of-view, not me covering up for him or trying to make light of a bad situation for people who've bought things from him. Not really sure how bad the situation is tbh. I actually doubt Andy would know either! One person already posted here has admitted he never actually made a claim back with paypal to get his money returned and the item(s) may have actually gone missing in the post. That's somewhat different from 'he deliberately didn't pay me back'. Not making light of that persons situation either, he lost a fair bit of cash! However, the fact remains he owes a few people either items or some cash, so PM me and I will do my best to convey this to Andy and establish whether he is in a position to at least resolve what can be dealt with.
Bah, you'll make me blush! I'd do it for any of my mates if I knew they'd genuine reasons for it and not just turned a bit Ronnie Biggs! ;-)
The following was written with a calm tone in mind, without inflection, this may come off as angry when it is not. I just want to express my thoughts. It sucks that he has had such a rough time, but that doesn't excuse or explain his actions (I know you are not trying to give an excuse for him Parris, as well you shouldn't have to). At no time has he tried to explain any situations with the people he owes stuff too, not even through a third party (until now), instead he has ignored them. That doesn't look like someone who is dealing with a bad turn of events, it looks like someone who is trying to steal from people. Besides, he ripped me off and ignored my PMs while still an active member of the boards, before the trouble you mentioned began. While he claimed to have sent it once and would send it again, he never offered any proof that he sent it at all and I never heard from him again after he said he would send another disc. Unfortunately, mine was a trade, so paypal was never an option. Though it was nice to see that he offered to dump the three discs I sent him as my part of the transaction days after breaking off contact with me... I think deleting this thread would be a bad idea. Spot on. There's no way the thread should be deleted, especially as diddydonn visits here, no point in hiding the truth.
Okay, let me put it another way. This guy was seriously ill, lost his business etc. A few people here were affected by it. Some claims appear to be valid, others not so. I've made him aware of the situation here, he may respond to the queries, he may not, but on an individual basis I have spoken to a few people via PM, including Barcode via MSN and established that things will be sorted. He will either get his item or money back. I can't afford to repay everyone, so hold fire!!! I've still not had a flood of complaints however. It's being made into a slightly bigger issue than it needed to be and as per usual it tends to be those who are not even affected that shout the loudest and longest. Whatever damage done, has already been done. Hopefully all of this can be resolved swiftly, but it looks less likely that it will be amicably. Given the time frame on some of the complaints, it seems highly unlikely. I'm not going to get involved in a shouting match though. If people want to air their grievances, then be my guest, it won't make things move any more swiftly as the person you are annoyed with isn't here. In another site I deal with there is a new counter system for sales / trades and the like. It actually appears next to your name and I think a similar system here rather than the user - user section might be the way forward. In user - user, you actively have to hunt through the comments and I know a lot of people don't leave feedback for me, plus there is no physical tally of good / bad / neutral. Having a system in place that actually has a counter would alert us all, because I am shocked that Andy got into so much of a mess. I'd have never thought he'd get stuck, purely judging on my own dealings with him, even if I didn't know him! As for not deleting the thread. Fair enough!
Actually, all of this has reminded me I still owe Limey a UK standard 360 PSU he bought off me for £10 and was supposed to be shipped to his sister in the UK. Shit! OH: Oh.... and OE, you might still have my RR gear box lol !!! HA! No rush! There will be a flurry of people remembering discs, games, items they promised mates months back lol

You mean the RR gear box that I offered to fix for free for you? ...I still have it here, untouched, just as you advised me later on, not to worry about it, as you had bought another complete machine. ...Let me know if you still want it repaired, or sent back as-is, god knows how much the postage will cost yer tho. Calmez vous! Well, if I remember rightly it was a trade. You kindly suggested you'd fix it for free, I said I couldn't expect you to do so and offered some items for it. However, the point isn't to 'crap' on you OE and I think you know that (and anyone reading into it that way should be ashamed of themselves as they know OE is sound as a pound), but to merely point out in fact that sometimes things go forgotten (by me in this instance, hence the laughter and joke), and are not intentional whether they appear that way or not. Take the gear, shove it in the bin! I don't have an RR cab any more as I sold it, which is why I forgot about it. Better still, fire it onto eBay and see whether it can help someone else out as those things are hard to come by. Not like I am strapped for cash. I am in the middle of obtaining another driving SIM - seriously, you don't think I'd be without one? However, OE please, you know me way better than to think that I thread flame people! It was merely making a point that sometimes friends trade back and forth and it is NO indication if how people trade. Stuff slides, gets forgotten or ends up on a back burner. <Looks at OE and wonders whether he realises I am seriously joking here?! :thumbsup:
