If any trades, swaps, purchases or any other postal related issues crop up here or abroad, which involve the UK in any way, please give us UK residents, buyers, sellers, posters a bit of a break. Our postal service is going to be disrupted throughout the coming weeks (and possibly months).

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=1000002&mediaId=51600692

Please take the above into consideration when thinking or trading with us in the UK or waiting for material to arrive. User-user feedback over delayed items really should be fair! <i.e. if the sender is at fault, not RM>

P&P via other routes will be more expensive, but more reliable & timely!

If i can add to parris has said about the disruption, if you have larger goods to send, parecl2go are doing a offer of £4.99 (+vat) courier 2-4 day delivery

    http://www.parcel2go.com/?referrer=html_rmstrike&email=html_rmstrike

although they say 2-4 day, i use this service often, and 9 times out of 10 its next day delivery, plus if you use the discount code 'greasy' you get 10% and they accept paypal!

I was already at the point of not dealing with the UK if its more then lets say 10 bucks and this just confirms it even more :) your mail system (together with canada) sucks but you were aware of this already i guess :) still a pity that an island I can almost see in clear weather is so hard to deal with :/

Come on, it's no where near as bad as Canada  UK post isn't that bad. In fact it's F*ing Parcel Force that gives the UK postal service the bad name 9 out of 10 times.

I've shipped to Russia, Finland, Germany and Canada without a single issue as of yet. With Russia it was at the peak of the penis waving fest that was the arctic as well.

What you say about Parcel Force is so true. I've been waiting for my minty (complete & boxed) PS2 Debug unit (DTL-H30002 S) to arrive from Germany for 3 weeks! I finally found out that Parcel Force have lost it in their "International Hub" It's apparantely been there since 24th September, and hasn't moved or been seen since. After making a few calls, I've been told that they're gunna give it 6 more days to turn up otherwise it's an insurance job.

Needless to say I'm F***ing furious

Do you think these delivery companies are paid to deliberately damage any development equipment they catch passing through them :-(

    That's awful mate!

I once had a 'miracles do happen' shipment get lost with pf, the thing is I found and paid 20 bucks for very rare games on ebay worth surely 10 times more at least without getting in to collectors sentimental value and it got lost.. so all I could get was my 20 bucks back but no way to handle it at ebays or paypal as the 30/40/60 day max bullshit or whatever it was expired already so even my 20 bucks were lost eventually and I didn't bother anymore.. :/

Still hoping that one day it might show up at the door after reading those articles about people receiving their mail 50 years later lol :)

The issue of Parcel Force reminds me to a similar case in Spain, where a company which was sub-hired by the main post service company of the country, Correos, "lost" and damaged more and more packages for years. After many legal complaints from customers, Correos finally decided to change it... But that "lost" packages never appeared. Sad.

Argh, my debug unit could be getting sold in someone's local boozer as we speak for a mere £20  .

The fact that the packing slip had "Playstation Colsole" written all over it, would have made it a prime target too. Now I'm left with the issue of trying to get my cash back, I mean do I involve PayPal or do I trust the sender to refund me once he has gotten the refund from his Post Office....? It doesn't help matters that the seller can't speak english, and I can't speak a word of German either :banghead:

I have had things from Yakumo arrive quicker (4 days) than things from Amsterdam (two weeks), Royal Mail are fine (when they aren't striking) it is indeed Parcel Farce that are the problem.

    Here's irony....

    RM were on strike yesterday...

...Where we live we are lucky if we actually get a delivery on a normal day.

...So, they are on strike and we get a delivery first thing in the morning, yippeee and another delivery via Parcel Force later in the day, yippeee, two deliveries in one day, when normally we would be lucky to get one a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love their strikes, keep up the good work fella's ;-)

Initially, I'd see what happens with your seller, but keep an eye on Paypal's dispute timelines - assuming the item is covered by Paypal, you have fixed periods of time from the time of payment, to (a) initiate a dispute & (b) to escalate the dispute to a paypal claim, if neccesary. If it looks like any refund from the seller isn't forthcoming, or is going to take longer than the time limits, they recommend you go ahead do the escalation anyway - you can always close the dispute if the refund gets made in time, or the package eventually appears (which is what happened to me, the one time I've had a parcel apparently go missing).

What really pisses me off, is their union are prepared to put them on an indefinite strike over their 2.5% payrise and threat of job cuts, yet our union folded like a wet paper bag when we got a 2.5% payrise and are being divided up to be sold off to Fujitsu.

Just a little tip. I sometimes write things like "Knitting sampler", "Nappy Bags" or "Damaged radios" on the packaging slips. So far I've not actually had a package I have sent go missing. Had some disappear on their way to me. I make what's inside really unattractive to the average bear!

Very good point, if anyone in Parcel Farce looked at a list of my received parcels they would wonder why I buy so many candles from Japan.

Unless they just think I bulk order big red candles?
