Amazing work - the unenviable challenge of completing the Bio Hazard 2 prototype to a professionally expected standard is definitely in safe hands! I've been following this project long before Team IGAS adopted the Squeeze Bomb engine, and it's just so good to see homebrew developers committing to producing software for 32-bit platforms. Now, about that fan hack of Sonic R that I've been reading about over at the Sonic Retro forums...

I was just checking this thread for any updates myself.
Actually, only the "40% version" was released 2 years ago, not the 'complete' game.
A "100% finished" version is still being worked on by team IGAS

Let's not forget the 80% version that we never ended up getting a hold of.

    Indeed
I'd love to get my hands on a copy of that.
Much as I appreciate IGAS 'finishing' the game off, there is of course the danger of them customising it to their tastes too much.....
I hope they stay true to classic RE

So far the only "dangerous" kind of customization were crappy backgrounds from other people. This stuff is being handled with extreme caution and precision.

That is awesome. I'm not sure on the legality of these things but I would love a physical release of 1.5. I'd buy a copy in a heart beat.

On the matter of legality, in order to prevent repro sellers I came up with a decent system of providing physical copies plus a few legal notes for copyright on the engine. You support development on the engine (rather than the game itself, which would be illegal as hell) and you get a copy for free in return. Apparently not many liked the idea, guess it's because Patreon isn't seen too well due to its monthly campaign system. I'm open to suggestions on that.

Why not something where you donate as a thank you for the efforts put in by the people behind it? Each person that donates a certain amount could then be sent a physical copy "free of charge".

Because you couldn't fool anyone by kindergarden logic. The problem is not only taking money for the product but actually dealing with someone elses IP. Capcom is obligated to defend the copyright of their IP. If they don't then that could mean they lose certain aspects of the copyright. Distributing physical copies is a lot easier to trace down to a certain person/company, which again makes it easier to take action. If something was released online through various p2p channels then it is a lot harder to take action.

My post was a pretty "nutshell" idea that could be molded and not out in the open about sending a physical copy for donating. I agree that downloading would be a safer option and one could make their own artwork, etc. Either way I think it would be a good idea to find a way to give back to those behind it for their efforts. I mean, to my knowledge. they're doing this on their own with no compensation.

That's how it already works on my crowd page. If people want to donate with other methods they could always contact via private messages.

I agree about giving back to the developers, but as Gemini pointed out; doing so would be best either through a PM or through a general purpose donation scheme.

Hey guys! Long time lurker here.
I was a 1.5 fan since I had seen it in a magazine 20 years ago. I even was a Bioflames member in early 2000s. Alas, I left the scene sometime in mid-2000s and kinda lost interest in Resident Evil after RE4. Finally getting the 40% build rekindled my interest for real. So 1.5 analysing and documenting have gone a long way since early 2000s, a lot of new stuff was found. There are some things that I'd really like to know more about. Maybe any of the 1.5 gurus here will help me? :)

    Those things are:
    1. Has anyone documented a 1.5 vs retail lab comparison, including maps? I love how the basic layout is similar but most of the assets are different, except stuff like Birkin's lab that changed very little in the retail. Also what is the story behind lab on fire? Both storyline wise and development wise.

    2. I've read here that not only Leon but Elza did change during the development too. Any screenshots comparisons?

    3. What about a major sewers overhaul during the 1.5 development? Could anyone provide some information on this? Screenshots, backgrounds, maps, date of the overhaul, everything is welcome!

    Thanks in advance!

Out of the blue this thread popped in my head the other day. Have there been any updates recently? Maybe I missed something on my YouTube or Facebook feed.

    Same
Haven't heard anything for almost a whole year.
I guess I just got my hopes up of playing a full version of 1.5 when the restore/complete project started, but looking less and less likely as time goes on.....
