I'm not sure how saying Curator=Assembler would derail the discussion to the point where people start jumping on another running train.

Considering how long we've had to wait already for this one, a few more months shouldn't make too much of a difference - especially if they follow through on the promise of also releasing the original untampered source build as well...

I am rather interested in this development, though I find it difficult to get excited after the previous incidents. I am a fan of those old games, having played them in high school all those years ago. Resident Evil 2, in particular, amazed me with its intriguing design, horror aspects, and interconnecting storyline that changed based on which starting character was chosen. (It's been a while, but I believe "Clare A, Leon B" was the official scenario.) Overall, the game had a lot of intrigue, which fans dissected heavily; There seemed to be an even larger story embedded deep in the backgrounds, brief moments of dialogue, and collectable documents. It was amazing to behold and fun to read about. For me, "1.5" is a chance to see fans dissect things that heavily again, and play a beta unlike any other.

I would like to know more of the facts of the current situation, though. Based on what's been added to the thread, there's a third party in possession of the Resident Evil 1.5 beta (Perhaps the fourth known iteration, "Final beta"/"Complete Works" version.) They intend to translate the game, posting their progress on an undisclosed Facebook profile. As Anthaemia stated, they "promised" to release an "original untampered source build." Is there anything else that has been disclosed that can be shared with the community?

Hasn't someone already confirmed the prototype currently being fixed up for release as something like just 40% of the Inflames/Complete Disc build, which is believed to be from the game's last known revision (of five different periods) before the restarting of development? I'm not actually sure where this new version dates in the overall production timeframe, but I suspect it's probably from just after the midway point since there's an image of Leon wearing his final uniform design - or at least it seems that way to me. I've also heard that a significant number of background files are missing, with large portions of the puzzles also yet to be implemented. Of course, if it's anything like "Beta 2" then most of the absent areas could easily be bypassed using the debug menu, though I'm sure many would like to see just how much can be restored using leftover data extracted from preview code. Personally, while this is definitely welcome to most fans, I'd rather play as much of an authentic Capcom experience as possible... that last known copy still remains my personal holy grail as far as PlayStation software is concerned since it's believed to only be lacking such minor details as FMV sequences and perhaps voice files, not to mention it supposedly contains only a few small glitches that again can probably be skipped!

Thank you, that data is much appreciated. I, too, would like to play the last known version, which Alzaire refers to as the "Final Beta" on the first page. In terms of play experience, I've been curious about the Birkin fight in the warehouse-styled section, which seems to exist in multiple versions. Still, assuming this latest effort is real, it will finally give fans something substantial.

Hahaha I knew he wouldn't give it up so easily, based on how he treated the whole 1.5 community with that "goromacida" video... what an idiot.

Something like this would cost more money than any community of video game nerds has ever raised :p I doubt such a thing would work. Maybe if the unreleased games were a separate sale. Everyone having to also chip in thousands upon thousands of dollars for the majority of this which isn't unreleased stuff but officially released games would really be a waste.

I heard a similar tale, actually. He DID have access to it, but it explicitly did not belong to him.

Eg: He used it just to make the videos, etc

You can't prove it and I can't prove the contrary. But that's what I 'think'.
