That's a link to the Atari Flashback Console; it has 20 games built in. I'm curious if there are Intellivision and Colecovision counterparts to that with the games built in. If there are, please post links. I would appreciate it.

I know there is an Intellivision in a joystick...but I also heard that it's based off a Famicom on a chip...so it's not really too much like the original.

    Edit: I did some sniffing...

That's the stick I'm talking about...

I have a major hard on for Colecovision and I haven't heard anything about a stick or system, so don't get your hopes up.

Problem is though, that Atari Flashback Unit is also based on a Famicom on a chip...making the games a tad inaccurate. I've tried it before...it isn't very good.

Either way, I'd stick with the original. Most of those units aren't quite right...

But...if you do want something in a joystick that's nearly identical to the original, theres a Commodore 64 all in one joystick, that the creator specifically made with the ability to hack it into a full fledged Commodore 64...it's a clone.

Heh...a little more information than you asked for...huh?

Edit Again: PS: You'll all want a Colecovision when they port the MSX Metal Gear to it.

Where can I get info on that C-64 clone? Was it just a project that somebody made (one of a kind) or was it released commercially?

There are two models of that Intellivision TV game. They use emulators, so it's unlikely that you could slap a cart slot on it.

From what I heard most of the games on the Colecovision that aren't owned by major companies (like say Mr. Do or something) are public domain, since Coleco has been kaput for 20 years. So it's unlikely we'll see any Coleco TV games any time soon. Anyone know who bought Coleco out?

See, I wouldn't know...I've never had a Commodore 64 (and I've only toyed with Amiga).

Old computers like that seem like a really big investment of time/money....I'd think it would be a pain to get software...and in the end, I'b be buying decades old floppy disks...which probably wouldn't work.

Meh, I guess I'm pretty happy with consoles.

I had one, too. First console of my own, and I learned some programming on it (though I ended up not studying computer science... go figure)

    it's

    LOAD "*",8,1

    RUN

if it was on tape, it was just

LOAD "*" (Or the name of the program)

    and the computer said

    PRESS PLAY ON TAPE

    and you did.

    It was BEAUTIFUL.

    those were the days...

How are they based on the famicom chip? Surely they're completely different?

Wait... I would have thought that since most of the games are public domain, it would be an obvious system to get cloned.

By the way, are those games in a controller battery operated or do they have a power socket? I've seen them before like for the Nintendo and all but just don't know if they run on an adaptor or just batteries.

sorry for saying this but that remark makes me quite angry (sorry but it does)

    IK 1 IK 2 and Ik+

were never released on NES and those three games were awesome no doubt about that

SSI´s rpgs were first on C64

sid meyers great pirates were made on C64 and if he had not made that game then it would not have been released on NES (and many other systems)

Giana Sisters ? well would I call that game for a sucky clone of Super Mario ? No i would call it one of the best games i have played in tyhe platformin genre and the music were great

Chris Hüelsbäck is the maker of the music.

    Bubble Bobble ?

great musik great game and simple game
the C64 was the shit :smt023

    Jack The Nipper ?

Rick dangerous 1 and 2 ? ( it still rocks on amiga)

    Boulder Dash ?

(how many versions do you know of that game ? i know many and can direct you to some of the best versions out on the internet.)

    Rainbow island ?

what about the SID chip ?

hell to this day they produce that chip and put it in to soundcards and keyboards(synthiezisers)

if it was not for the c64 you would not have all those great games today.

seriously i dont think you have played enough games on that great computer so sorry but your remark makes me a little bit sour and angry but i wont start a flame war

or you maybe just feel sick of that computer and sorry for my fanboyism.

that computer revolutionised the game and computer industry bigtime and i am still astounded by it

You know...Colecovision is apparently almost identical to MSX standard hardware wise...

Which makes me wonder...is Coleco ADAM MSX compatible?

    Don't think that I really don't like C64, I do, I think it's a great computer and I think it's pioneered the demo/warez scene immensely.

I still stand by my statement though, the problem with most C64 games is the hardware is horrible in all aspects except for music, which IMO isn't that much better than NES's APU. Also there are so many C64 games but few of substance, especially when compared to NES games of the same time.

Most of the popular C64 games are unoriginal ports (Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Island can't compare to their real arcade versions or even NES/PCE), I don't think modern gaming was influenced in any way by C64 as it made absolutely no impression on Japan and little influence in the US.

BTW, I like Giana's music and it's comical graphics too but it's gameplay and physics are horrible. I think later on, like 1992+ C64 games started to pick up but when you compare 1993 C64 games to other videogames of the time, you're comparing C64 to SNES which is no comparison.

Kyuusaku: ok :) no worries then it is just that i do like the NES but i do not think it sucks at all it is just not my cup of tea (and still i dont think that C64 was so sucky when i am not comparing it to the SNES, but other 8 bit machines of its time in the eighties)

did i forget to mention that Wonderboy and Wonderboy In Monsterland was ported to it ?

Commodore 64 -the most sold of any computer model (Guiness book of World Records)

Baseley09 hmmmm you have made me curious how does it own ? ;-) :)

but OK maybe i am a big C64 fanboy and i am sorry for being that but i will try to not explode like that in the furture although i am a little notorious when it comes to it.

That was my first console, you know? The C64.
(That's like .... when a regular person remembers his first girlfriend or something. (Mine was age 22, btw))

I can't help but be biased, though I do know many of the games were utter shite - that's part of what made me a gamer. Hell, I enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed the NES, with no clue as whether one game or another was good... and boy, were there MANY horrible nes games.

Thing is, in its final days, my commodore sort of... agonized.
Every time more frequently, even in the system screen, it'd "crash". Not windows style, but the colours of certain blocks would change, or it would show strange "garbage" characters and stop working and whatnot. I simply couldn't play anymore, when I put it in my closet, never to be played again. I guess that happens after 8 years of faithful gaming. (whereas the girl in question, 7 years after the commodore incident, left me for a rich 40 year old, after a 13 day relationship. Go figure)

    Rest in peace, Commodore machine.
