well.. the diskdual only supports max 2gb harddrives (not enough for a complete ROM collection).. and only 8+3 DOS format names which means you have to be in pure DOS mode to copy the files (and that is the troublesome part, from my point of view).

You can get quite a lot for the Z64 units on Ebay UK, especially with that many zip disks. Judging by the other Z64 units Ive seen sold there recently Id reckon 200-250£...

Surely you could format a bigger HD as FAT16 at 2GB?
Maybe even multiple partitions at 2gb?

yeah, you could always take a larger drive and make it 2gb but that feels almoast as waste of good space

  8. WHAT???? If I can get that much I would do it. I would have to format all the zip disks of course.

btw. just remeberd that when I use my diskdual I get interference on my tv. that is another reason why I don't use it. just my last 2 cents on the diskdual.

but if I should come with some good tips that I came up with recently that I havn't tried myself yet.. is that you buy one of those compactflash to ide adapters and use compactflash disks instead of the hardrive.. that should make it easier to switch roms if needed.
note. I _think_ it should work with the diskdual, I don't _know_.

It wont sell for much, the seller hasnt written the words backup or z64 once! ebay.co.uk doesnt remove backup units (at least not very often), so its rather stupid not listing it as that. Regular people wont search for "development" when they are looking for an n64 backup unit...

And it doesnt have the original box etc either, which would bring the price down even more.

ebay almost always removes backup units... I've seen loads of backup units removed. I know someone who had a saturn removed because they said it was modded with a country switch. I know someone who's had a console removed for saying it was NOT modded!!

    I'd like a DX2. Wouldn't mind a Z64, but already have the V64.

  15. I used to have a V64 but sold it to a friend because the Z64 (I thought) was more reliable, less bulky, and easier to use with zip disks. Plus I could save game progress right onto diskette instead of buying that extra attachment. The DX2 (in my opinion) was the best snes backup unit. But people would argue otherwise.

  16. Before you bid, ask him how much memory is in it. I know I had paid to get mine upgraded so I have the max allowable.

  19. FYI, I think 32MB equals 128megabits? You should get a 256megabits version. Mine is a 256. I even had my original receipt in my box (look below. my receipt doesn't include my upgrade to 256 which I think I paid $250-300 because I had to send it away and have a new mobo installed).

Some gratuitous pics of mine in action:

    ODT on N64?!?! Yup.

The complete package I'm getting an interest check on except I forgot to list the zip disks. ALL ZIP DISKS will be formatted. Except I will leave public domain demos on there such as the entries for Presence of Mind 1998 and 1999 demo contests.
