I was watching the video interview on ign they did with reggie on their confrence and what they plan on doing, whent the intervier struck with the quest what is so special about the controler, while hestitant in saying that in relveling anything as well as stating he would not say, he did say in response after being beggeed that since the revoloution can play all these classic nintendo games from their various past systems, what controller will allow you to be able to play all these different games that were released on different platforms. If you as me this seems like this will be a very intresting controller.

Perhaps there is going to be more than one controller for this. They'll make a killing on classic controllers for the Revolution -P

Well it's just for style really and a few bucks, play SNES games with an SNES controller, etc. That would surely add to the nostaglia.

They've said both that, and they said it wouldn't have a D-pad.

I'm convinced it's gyroscopic. I think either Iwata or Miyamoto said it's NOT a touchscreen (just as well, IMO).

well, you can easly guess that two totally diferent controllers types will work on the revolution, first, the wireless one, wich is at the same time the mysterious ans suposed to be revolutionning controller. Ans second, the game cube one, since you can see on the side of the console there's plug holes for them, you can say it will only be for the gamecube retro-compatibility, but why couldn't the new controller do it by itself anyway? it wouldn't be as great, since you wouldn't feel the original gc controller in your hands, but they could have passed this thing and tell it would be cheaper to make and everything would be wireless. But now you tell yourself that if the revolution controller is so revolutionning, it couldn't fit the gamecube layout and remplace every buttons with perfection, since we don't even know if it will use buttons anyway! (well...)
And this would aply to every retro-compatible console, hence the game cube pad retrocompatibility. Like paulo and legit said, i don't understand why nintendo couldn't remap the game to make it play on a gamecube controller without confortably and without any problems. They already made it for the n64 (master quest/OOT/M'sM) and for the nes (The legend of zelda/Link Adventure/Metal Gear/ and so on) anyway, and it fitted perfectly.

i would like to play with the original pad better too, but it would cost to ninty a moderate amount of cash to do it. and there's still that GC-Snes controller you can import at worst, you know? it's still a gamecube controller.

Guess that rules out playing any 2D or fighting games on the new system.

Ok ill give in to forgetting about the N64 controler as i think it has more buttons then the gamecube one doesnt it...

However if your going to be paying both for the old games and then on top for new old controlers....

Nay, i prefer playing 2d games with analog sticks for the most of time, just like gradius 5 by exemple.

Well not exactly. The N64 has 2 shoulder and Z, which the cube has, and it has A and B, which the cube has. What its lacking is the 4 C buttons, which are replaced with the 2nd analogue stick, and also the cube includes X and Y. So its all good, except where C buttons are used as quick action buttons, as its much harder to quickly move an analog stick than push a button.
My thoughts? They'll have one general purpose controller, and then they'll re-release each systems controller, being a standard money making corporation...

I'm not sure time trialing or vs. contests would work on gamecube controllers for MarioKart64

maybe it's because i haven't plaed this game since a long time, but i don't see why it couldn't. Why coudln't it work?

...and i don't really see nintendo, or any other compagny in it's place, not taking the GC controller because of only one game.

I wonder if it's modular and you can mix and match to make the controller.
