Is it messed up that I sold my PS2 and all the games to purchase a brand new game cube, some games, and so that I can play the new Zelda game?
Nope, I owned about 20 PS2 and 15 PSX games. I had just started my collection, then was amazed by Zelda TLP, and quickly sold everything and purcahsed a game cube. I am happy with it. The controller is unbelievably comfortable. Melts in my hands.
I say you made a Fine choice. I'm fairly certain Zelda TLP is going to be an awesome experience, plus the Cube has so much else to offer. Also, you might want to check out Zelda WW. Oh, and Mario Kart DD is a must. Super Smash Brothers Melee is also great, it's surprisingly deep despite it's cartoony appearance... and, well I could go on and on.
I can never own more than one system. It will drill a deep dark hole into my wallet. I noticed alot of Game Cube games are great multiplayer types. This is perfect being that I always have people over at my place. The Ps2 game are more for single player (at least what I've seen). Plus, the games just seem alot more fun and energetic. They aren't so focused on being "pretty". The gameplay IMO is way more important that special graphics. Yes, I should have waited for rev, but it's not like I'm going to purcahse it right away. I can't afford to buy a brand new system when it comes out. I hear it's going to be $150, but those are just rumors. I'll just wait. Plus, it'll be backwards compatable right?
Wise Choice. I have always preffered the gamecube to other consoles - trouble is many won't give it a chance
I tried the sony thing, and I learned the hardway. Don't get me wrong, sony does have some good games, but nintendo seems to be on the ball with things. I should have never doubted them. I mean c'mon, they made the NES and SNES. 2 of my favorite systems as I was a kid.
... and that is why I hung onto them into the N64 and GCN ages. Now, I'm looking straight forward into the REV times without so much going for the PS3 or 360.
I kind of did the opposite, once upon a time. I sold my N64 and about 5 games for some Playstation stuff. Mainly Working Designs games. Personally, I think you should have waited for the Revo to come out, since it will be backwards compatible with GC games and look nicer, too.
I haven't seen any screen shots for REV or anything else. From what I know, it's been kept hush for quite some time. Yet I trust Nintendo. They won't let me down. No no no no no. I don't like how my local game stores lack in the selection of games for the GC. They do however have TONS of PS2 and Xbox covering almost 2 walls. So far I have purchased Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Mega Man Collection What else do you recommend? Titles that aren't so new I won't be spending $50 for a single game.
Pikmin 1/2 Super Monkey Ball (either 1 or 2) Zelda:WW and 4 Swords Smash Bros Animal Crossing Donkey konga (fun for a while) Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (see above) Ikaruga RE4 (obviously...) Mario Kart DD Metroid Prime 1/2 Soul Calibur 2 (best version of 2 IMO) That just about covers it - None of those are too expensive, so go pick them up. NOW!
Ahh yes, not a huge RPG fan myself so missed that one. Theres also Baten Kaitos, Paper mario and Skies Of Arcadia Legends
I enjoyed Metroid Prime. Some others might not like that series. Alien Hominid MGS Twin Snakes Zelda 4 swords adventures Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance I dont really have that many GC games, but there are some I want to get. BTW, Tales of Symphonia ROCKS!!! Do you have a GBA? Thats great for RPGs.
If you want to get the most out of Crystal Chronicles you need mates, GBAs and relevant cabling. Single player is a non-event. Zelda: 4 Swords adventure is the same.
I don't think you made a mistake. Sometimes you just have to trade to get the next thing. Crystal Chronicles is friggin' awesome if you've got some buddies to play with. ^_^
