Before I go out and buy a product to dump a gameboy game that I will only use once, is there a way to dump a gameboy game by using a gameboy player or something similar? (ex. pokemon stadium and pokemon transfer pak, etc.)
In the readme to the Gameboy Interface homebrew software for the Game Boy Player it says "gbi/default.mb.gz - GBA BIOS/ROM dumper": But I don't know how it works since it's not a dol executable. And also it might only work for GBA and not GB.
does that mean I would also need a gameboy flash cart to send it to? or would it possibly dump to the sd card?
I havent tried the GBI one to know how it works, but I can if you want. I imagine it saves to a memory slot SD card. The Transfer Pak can also work with an everdrive or similar to dump games, I dumped my original Pokemon Blue save that way.
I dumped some cards with the Smartboy by Hyperkin directly to my phone. That way you would have something to dump and to play with.
Quick guide: Boot GBI in whatever way you need to with no game in, you'll get this menu: Put game in, hit dump ROM: The rom gets dumped to the SD card in your memory card slot. It can take a while depending on the game.
