Anyways, I used to be a huge fan of the outrun series. So I figured it was finally time to look into picking up the "next gen sequel" Now I'm confused is OutRun 2006 a "upgrade" to OutRun 2? As in its basically the same game with more features. Or are they two different games. If so which is the better choice? Any of them include any ports of arcade originals ala Sega Rally for PS2?
Huh? And that mean what. I'm not too famillar with the new arcade releases So does that means the game is OutRun 2 plus more? I.e. a special edition
Oh ok, so OutRun 2 with extra content. I was confused by the review sites, as many gave OutRun 2 top marks, but gave OutRun 2006 a lower score
It's based on the arcade upgrade called Outrun 2: Coast to Coast. It's pretty good on the PS2, I must say. Also EBgames/gamestop have it on sale in some places for only $10.
i own the psp version and i found it very good, it stays truthful to the original, plus it has a good soundtrack and you have 13 Ferraris to choose from (once you hace unlocked them, of course)
Hmm.. Well I just picked up Forza 2, so I'm wondering if its really worth this... any thoughts. Will Forza 2 have me fufilled?
There are also unlockable bits if you link the PS2 and PSP versions together. Not worth the price of both games but worth a mention nonetheless.
I must admit that last week I got myself hooked on the missions. It's so unbelieveably that you'll spend ages trying to complete the 2nd or 3rd mission in a stage, get an A so unlock the final mission and complete that in one go. It just has an element of '4 easy missions to 1 stupidly difficult one'!
Actually, there are a few strange omissions from Coast 2 Coast that prevent it from being just a simple combination of all previous OutRun 2 versions, such as the lack of Daytona USA 2 and SCUD Race circuits. Then again, I'm still coming to terms with how incredible the PS2 edition looks - had they been around at the time (and I know they were in a way, before anyone raises that point) Sumo Digital could even have pulled this one off for the Dreamcast... probably!
Those tracks were added extras for the XBox home port though, they are not really part of Outrun 2. I doubt the DC could have handled the game without huge draw distance issues. Sumo used some pretty tricky coding to get it working on the PS2. I was playing the game again a little over the weekend and thought I'd add that Outrun 2006 also has the original Outrun 2 tracks available to play on.
