Is the X-box 360 a good Dvd player?

    Mine too, the replacements didn't get HDMI. I mean the store ones. They say it on the box I think.

    I don't notice a big difference on mine but I don't have the other speakers hooked up yet, just stereo. I have bad hearing though.

    Optical is only needed if you have surround sound (DTS, Dolby 5.1 etc)

    Anyways, I decided to just go ahead and do it.

    Got myself the

    Xbox 360 Elite
    and
    a 32" HDTV

    The last time I checked, it did. Both commercial DVDs and DVD-R. Also there is at least one (hacked) DVD player that works without a remote.

    for XBOX (1) there is also a app that makes your xbox think it has a remote. And for playing DVD's in XBMC I don't need to use a remote. (I got one of the newer builds)

    and dont fforget you can use your psp as a remote as long as you have a ir dongle
