Ok, that's it! I'm here to settle the whole Wondermega differences once and for all!! Here is how it breaks down, pay attention class ;)

The Wondermega was made by both JVC/Victor and Sega. As seen in the pics above they are pretty much identical. The ONLY differences are the following between the units:

-The POWER button on each unit is a different color.
-BOTH systems have the same green lights.
-The SEGA model has a white rim around the lid, as the JVC one has a black one
-On the upper right of the console, each one has the respective maker's moniker on it
-The JVC one has the MD/Mega CD sticker logo under the WONDERMEGA title on the upper left
-The JVC model has the words "Integrated Amusement Sytem RG-M1" written above the READY and ACCESS lights
-To squash the rumor, there were NOT any other colored models (as was once thought)
-The JVC system also came with the Wondermega Collection CD and a JVC branded 3-button gray controller
-One other rumor to squash is the rarity of one version over the other. They are both technically rare, but this is how it broke down. The JVC model sold a bit more than the Sega model, however Sega actually put more units out there than JVC did.

To clear up another point, JVC released a second, scaled down version of the Wondermega, called the Wondermega 2. Looking nowhere as nice as the original, it got rid of many features that were included on the original. This is the hideous beast that made its way to the US as the X'Eye (however, the wireless pads and the S-Video feature were oddly taken out of the US version).

If you are wondering, I actually own the JVC version and have played with the Sega version also (I, too, personally like the JVC model more). Hopefully this helps out a bit more in the info. dept. since I love my Wondermega :)

Wondermega is the coolest designed system ever.

The second version was not great as the first one. Still looks better than a PS2. :D

Thanks for the clarification LiquidPolicenaut. How did you find out about the rough Wondermega production/sales figures?

In case anybody is still interested, I took some pics of my Victor model:

As you can see, mine is missing the "MCD/MD" sticker. Dunno what happened with it, since I bought it in this state (for a really nice deal), but the Wondermega actually gets pretty hot if you use it for an extended period, and I'm thinking this might cause the sticker to peel off over time.
The Wondermega Collection is really lame, by the way, unless you're a huge Flicky fan or something.

Here's the back. I'm assuming it has exactly the same ports as the Sega model.

Here's another view from straight atop. I also think it's the nicest console ever designed.:)

I actually have a question for the other owners. If I connect my Wondermega with S-Video the picture quality is suddenly much worse than composite (which shouldn't be the case at all). There's really bad color bleeding, especially with reds and greens. I'm thinking the S-Video jack is busted in either the Wondermega or the TV. Any thoughts?

Hmm, I use my Wondermega (Sega version) through S-Video and that works fine. THe AV option looks a bit cack though.

First of all, your system is so absolutely sexy, I'm having trouble keeping my pants on.

Having declared that, I really hope it's not the machine. Are you able to test it with another television? That would definitely give you an idea whether it's the WM or not. It could also be your S-Video cable. It's happened before.

Otherwise, I hope there's actually a way to fix the S-Video output.

Alienworkshop - sorry for not giving you credit. I guess I read over so quickly that I didnt notice someone else stated the Wondermega 2/X'Eye info. too :)

Citcelaid - First off, I agree that the Wondermega Collection is pretty much crap! A nice little trivia piece though. The classical music that plays during the title screen is the same track Sega used for their Sega Classics Collection. Useless info., but info. none the less :) I also agree with the overheating and the Mega Drive/Mega CD sticker is SO cheap! Mine also came off very quickly and it was like brand new on there! I hate to say it, but I think it's your Wondermega :( I have my American Genesis modded for S-video and compared it to the Wondermega S-video (which is how mine is hooked up) and they are 100% identical. No bleeding, messed up colors, etc. It's true that once you see Genesis/Mega Drive/Sega CD/Mega CDs in S-Video its almost impossible to go back to composite, and it makes you realize just how bad the natural composite really is from the Sega machine.

P.S. - I got the sales figure data from someone who actually worked in the higher-up levels of JVC/Victor back when the machines came out.

    No problem man ;]

What I think is really funny about this thread though, is that it is actually supposed to be about the CDX.

I have also seen pics of an import version of the Sega CDX, labeled Multi-Mega.

My PC is offline right now, but once I get access I know I have a pic of it in my archive.

Yip, just noticed that recently when I just got a copy of the Sega Classics collection.
Some even more useless trivia: The castle in the background of the Wondermega Collection startup screen is Castle Linderhof, about 100 miles from where I live. :)

Hmm, yeah, I suspect it's my Wondermega too. Must be some interference somewhere in the output. I'm kind of afraid to take the whole thing apart though...
Oh well, I guess I'll have to stick with AV for now. I do have a good pair of cables though, and my vision is kind of bad so it all looks blurry anyway. :smt042

I might be wrong, but curiously in Brazil it was called Multimega CDX ( European + US names)
