Maybe, but the problem revamps itself every now and then. My friend's DC has been to the cleaners more than he has been to the dentist. His GD-rom drive also developed a personality it would seem, since it sometimes plays stuff but many times it doesn't. These two issues are what scared me from buying a DC back when they were going brand new for cheap.
I have 1 dreamcast that's dead it used to go black randomly now turning it on it's just black and nothing happens. My 2nd one music skips in some games. I also don't know if the reason some of my import games don't play are due to the gameshark not being the best bootdisc or if it's the disc drive.
my first DC died 2 days out of warranty due to PSU failure.... so i bought another new one, reboxed the faulty one and took it back to currys and exhcanged that too... then sold the 2 nd brand new one! (very naughty i know!)
The first DC that I had couldn't read games after like a day, but I had a warranty and the one they replaced it with has lasted me nearly 5 years today.
