I can't believe it, lol. I guess the advertising agency thought that since the DS lite is white and is very very popular, they thought a white PSP will be the same. Very ingenious .

While we're on the subject of ytmnd.com. I should point this out to you all...

Me either. It seems like everyone wants to dig their claws in Sony for every little thing.

Another PSP game called Locoroco is being called "racist" because it has a character that vaguely resembles blackface.

Its just people being overly sensitive to the point of girlish whining as one of our members has said before.

This has got fuck all to do with Sony. It'd get the same response if Nintendo had done it with the DS lite.

It shows a black person being theatened by a white person, with the colour differences being an essential part of the meaning of the advert. If the roles were reversed it'd still be a racially charged advertisement.

I wouldn't call it "racist", and it doesn't bother me, but I can see why some people might see it as being on the borderline of good taste.

The main issue I have is that whoever designed the advert clearly meant to cause this effect, which is kind of disappointing. That's advertising I guess.

It doesn't bother me either (It is in Japan, correct?), although I am sure some people would think of it as racist and edgy.

So anyone offended by this advert must either be black or a raving lefty.

Top marks for some real prejudice!

Hmmmm well Reef´nBeef in Denmark is right now advertising with a picture of a Tasmanian, with a red wine glass, and I think we all know what happened to the Tasmanians.

I, for one, find the word "Pinko" much more offensive than this ad, that is just distasteful, like many Sony ads have been lately.

Exactly lol. Its racy and edgy and, overall, it protrays the white PSP as being better than the black PSP. They show this hot white chick and this average looking black guy about to get pushed back from her for simply being a different color, but inside its the same god-damn PSP. Yeh, theres nothing racist going on here..

Maybe that wasnt the politically correct thing to say, but I'm getting tired of people complaining over every little thing that can even be CONSIDERED racist.

I've been on forums where people think Black Mages from Final Fantasy are racist if that gives you an idea.

What exactly is racist though, other than using a white woman to emphasise the white colour of the console? Am I supposed to be offended that they are calling the white woman white? I can see how the pose of the white model might look aggressive against the black model, but how exactly is it racist?

People seem to be far too sensitive these days.

Doesn't look racist to me. Looks more like the white character is trying to get the attention of the black character, doing her best to get noticed or putting everyone else on notice that she's arrived. They just used people of different color in the same way that they could have used anything else of a different color.

One might be able to argue that it could be racist but if you need to do that then it's can't be as racist as you're making it out to be.

Fact of the matter is, Sony is using a black and white model to convey there message that the new and upcoming white PSP is 'superior' than the old black-colored model, that way people will feel that they should buy one if they want to be seen by their peers as superior (something a marketing agency would say). In reality it still conveys the message of it being new and better and to compell people to buy it so that they can show it off to their friends to make them jealous. The PSP isn't any faster, etc., it is just a different color this time. If you also take a look at their recent marketing tactics, Sony has been using racial stereotypes, like the mexican dust clouds that sound like Cheech Marin, and two squirrels that talk like a stereotypical black guy from the ghetto. This is nothing new although this time, instead of cartoon characters, they are using human beings.

Average american would find this slightly racists to the least due to the exposure of racial tension in America, but the average person in the rest of the world would not (which everyone here from other countries has clearly stated that they don't see anything wrong with it) because they haven't been exposed to the racial issues this country regularly faces.

No matter how you look at it, it is a distasteful way of Sony marketing their new product because it is causing controversy (for example, right here in the boards). Here's what my friend had to say about it...

    [20:26] mdhtter256: http://sonyracist.ytmnd.com/
    [20:26] mdhtter256: find that racist?
    [20:27] *******: no
    [20:28] mdhtter256: meh, kinda
    [20:28] mdhtter256: well
[20:28] *******: it just says white is coming
    [20:28] *******: big deal
[20:28] mdhtter256: yeh but how 'bout that lady that is pushing the ugly black guy away?
    [20:28] *******: no
[20:28] *******: shes stoping him from raping her.
    [20:28] mdhtter256: LOL

Anyone see the Bacardi commercials? Did you cry out in anger when you saw the White guy say he was Bacardi and the Black guy was Coca Cola and they go great together? I bet you really got upset when Colas little cousin, Diet Coke (portrayed by a Black midget) was in another one.

If so, you have a problem deciding what is racist and what is not.

To me, it sounds like YOU are the more racist ones because you probably believe if it were just one White guy, or one Black guy in an advert, ITS NOT RACIST.

BTW, someone mentioned Pinko was offensive. Why?

Definition of Pinko: "Pinko has an angry, almost genetic loathing for privilege, greed, social exploitation, racism, sexism, homophobia, pro-lifers, the religious right, environmental degradation, the NRA, US imperialism, multinational corporations, big business, Republicans in general and George Bush in particular. Pinko openly admires Oliver Stone, Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore and anyone else who is critical of the US government and bourgeois culture. They ardently believe there is no enormity of which the United States is incapable and regards its entire history as an unbroken legacy of avarice, deceit and injustice."

Actually, it sounds like a LOT of people on this board. Add that they love Japan obsessively and you have 90% of the members here. Besides, Pinko, what would you rather be called? Hippies? Super Waps?

Well you gotta realize that a lot of people here are foreigners, so of course their views would be rather different and not realize that the pinko you're referring to is actually pinko-commy. And its pinko because of the reference of gayness behind the color pink, etc. Implicit label of being called a faggot for thinking that way, especially back in the 1960s during the whole hippy/communist movement.

I wouldn't go as far as saying everyone here is a pinko now. They just don't have a clue as to where some of us are coming from in regards to this ytmnd site that is merely to make the viewer to think about the picture for a bit, get the point, and then laugh at it.
