I maybe answering my own question here, but I'm just wanting to make sure. I have this step-down here http://i.imgur.com/ewQVa.jpg (image a bit too large) I can run a 110v Dreamcast and Saturn perfectly fine through it, and curious if the XBOX will be fine through it too? Again I apologise if I've answered my own question, but better to be safe I guess
Only 20W output? I am surprised you can run a Dreamcast with that. I don't think it's enough for an Xbox, but that's just a guess as I don't have one. Just check the label, if it uses less than 20W it should work. If it's not on the label you can calculate it yourself: Watts = Volts x Amps.
You can try it, but you might go... *sniff* *sniff* what is that burning smell... It will get very hot and probably burn out or catch fire... so remember to store your matches, fireworks and petrol close by. You would need a step down that is 100W or so. Although you could buy a 500W even in Austrlia for about $20 more.
Thanks guys! Yep this unit does get super hot actually - I was told from the person I bought it off that it's normal for them to get hot. I've played the DC for hours with this and it's never burnt out. So, I won't be using this for the XBOX to play since I have a retail one here modified. Was just wanting to test the unit when it arrives and store it back.
No no no, this XBOX is super rare and it's complete, well not SUPER but it is rare... I ain't opening it I'll just see if I can grab another step down... Just hope they're not expensive...
Will this be a good enough step down for the XBOX? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100W-240...ent&hash=item20cc8efcf7&_uhb=1#ht_2693wt_1139 @Pikkon: I got the Smoke Black XBOX CIB. Way cheaper than what they are listed on eBay and what I was offered before
A 100W will do, although he has a 200W one for $3 extra which is good as you will be able to plug two machines in and not worry about having them both switched on at the same time. With step downs it is best to er on the side of caution as some ratings are optimistic at best and tend to get very hot at near peak. With the step down you have, if it is running very hot then do worry as they can fail in a number of ways and some can be dangerous.
Thanks so much with all the advice man, I'll get a 200W one then. This step-down I own right now, the housing is starting to crack, so it seems very dangerous to continue using... Which I only noticed.
Ive been watching for a good one, soon enough Really, I dont care about the box and contents, other than the controller, so long as everything else is nice
The one I grabbed came with about 22 games and an extra controller. All complete . The system was very nice can't wait to get it, I'll surely tweet you when it's here
