Does anyone know if the Sega SCK-1000 karaoke unit plays Sega Saturn software? It has always puzzled me if it does or not since it featuresthe Sega Saturn logo. I've checked many sites but none really give any solid feature information about the hardware. Here's a poor photo of one. You can just about make out the Saturn logo on the bottom left side. There's also a 50 CD changer available for it. It would be fantastic if you could load up 50 Saturn discs in to this. Finally there's a very nice amp with Sega 250W speakers. The whole set up looks like this. Yakumo
They're not mine but they can be bought from a few different places in Japan including yahoo Auctions. there's none up at the moment. I'd like to buy one in the future sometime but what I really need to know is if they play Saturn games. I would have thought they would since the main unit does feature a Saturn logo on it. I guess the control ports would be behind the flap. Yakumo
the amp reminds me of a brand in the uk called arcam a few years back made a series identical in looks to that setup
Does it run Sega Saturn games? Yes! Does it have a motorised tray? Yes! Can you run Saturn games in the 50 CD changer? No. However it will read Video CDs and CD+G CDs from it. http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/karaoke_happy_day/2690930.html
No hotlinking, bad boy. Dang, one more rare machine to hunt down. And I thought an SGX and HiSaturn Navi were already enough Lol.
Thanks for the info Jamtex  If I knew it played saturn games I would have bought a full set up for only 5000 yen the other week but I was unsure. Bummer. yakumo
For 5000yen I wouldn't even care if it plays Saturn games. There's a Saturn-logo on it, it's huge, it's interesting, it's cheap. Oh, and shipping abroad would probably cost 25000yen.
That's ridiculously awesome. It's like a Wondermega that mutated on 1950s radiation. What are the A/V output options on this thing? One of the reasons I keep a JVC X'eye in service is that I don't have to pfaff around with any funny video cables. That'd be worth 5000 yen right there.
The system has a 15 pin RGB out if what I've heard is true. If so the image quality should be very good.
