Yep, a high rank member of nintendo germany just said to the BBC that the Wii will cost €250 in europe. A senior executive in Nintendo Germany has confirmed that the European price for the forthcoming gaming console will be 250 Euros Well, since lastest console prices were the same in $/€ (ratter than going alongside with the currency markets) theres a big chance that the Wii will be $250 in the US of A too. So, wheres the rumored $170? maybe japan, although I dont see the Wii going for less than $199 over there. Source
At least comes from an official source, ratter than some dude that knows a guy inside a trash can in some nintendo R&D lab...
He said they havn't decided on a price, but he thinks it should be below €250, so no, he even doesn't know.
250 or less? Allright that will be 249,- then (as usual there would be a 99 or 49-price here) Either way im still going for NTSC. Screw inflated PAl-territory prices.
A maxiumum price is just that, and it will also be list price. If htey gave us MAP, that would be excellent...
What matters more? method, or function? if you show me a way to take a rowboat somewhere in 20 minutes safely, and also a way to get there in 30 minutes with a wormhole and some kind of subspace shifting safely, I'll still take the rowboat. The Wii is looking more appealing because of what it DOES(IE play more games, have more interesting input options, more storage options. I can use MY choice of hard drive!!! Not Sony's, not microsoft's. MINE.). To me the goal of a game system is to provide fun gaming. Not fancier graphics than a computer and the latest Tom Clancy novel made into a battle sim. Hell, a PS3 version of Katamari is a reason for me to look forward to a PS4. So I can get someone's cast-off PS3 for cheap. There's a reason people still want to play Atari 2600 games. It's not because they were the most innovative graphics for their time(they WERE for a home system, but the time is past) it's because the games are fun. If they make their emulator download thing happen, it should be easy to crack and make it run off your hard drive. At that point the price of the system is justified. They make less money from games in backcatologues, they make more off the system. Great move, I think.
Oh, I'd like to note that if I had $200 to blow on a system, I'd have blown about 1,000 first. There are higher priorities for me than a new system. I'll get a used one in 5 years when all the sofware is out and people have coded custom bioses to store games on the drive or something. Just making it clear I'm not getting one new, but it's the most attractive offering.
I did come up with a thread (sticky) for people to use with links/rumours but no one seems to use it these days.
What? the Wii only accepts flash of the SD kind. And I wouldnt talk about the scene and piracy in this forum.... BTW, dont look at me paulo: I've seen tons of threads about nothing lately, while my news thread is death and rotting with no new posts in 2 weeks.
Oh, and by the way, I have an extensive SNES, Genesis, Playstation, Saturn, NES, and GBA collection. Don't go ASSuMEing that I'm talking about Piracy. Also, what if the Virtual Console is supposed to be able to run off the drive?
