Yeah, I don't know how anyone can go on the internet without a firewall anymore - and there must be some less informed people who still do. My brother accidentally went online with ZoneAlarm turned off, and in about 5 minutes he got some form of the Sasser virus! That's the second time I've EVER got a virus on one of my PCs (outside of downloading supposed "keygens" off Kazaa and eMule, to find out they're not keygens at all...), and I've had a PC since 1992!
my router/modem takes care of all that, apparently - I don't run a software firewall and haven't had any problems. However, when I set my PC's internal IP as the router's default NAT target, I got an exploit in about 2 minutes :smt030
my evolutionary step IE > FireFox > Maxthon now if you think firfox is great, u should see Maxthon :smt023
i prefer using norton firewall and using nod32 as an antivirus program. zonealarm fucks computers up bigtime last i checked it in pro version.
Well i use the Mozilla ( i might change it with Firefox + Thunderbird). As for ZoneAlarm, i have the free download version and it works great
I actually have been attacked using IE--at least once, if not more. I've had to remove spyware manually--it's a bitch. I figure that I'll switch to Opera when I get a new ISP (this week), and install FF on the laptop/dad's computer. The laptop had all sorts of shit on it from IE. :-(
Trouble with Zonealarm is that it isn't compatible with DC ++, which is a huge handicap for me; and like Anti, my router does the job of a firewall as it is.
id-republix: if you know of the Depeche Mode hub then come by then i will give you a cyber beer and a greetingf
