I'd like to get one of these, but not if it's £300. It says there released, but see none on sale anywhere?
something about that thing sits wrong with me. and i think its because it occupies the EXT port and i use an IFU30. also costs as much as a framemeister which is A BIG TURN OFF. NOW if they start making these again (http://db-electronics.ca/product/dbgrafx-booster-ttp/), this may be a better option WITH a framemeister, or a TV that does 240p component. as long as you don't use the expansion this would be GREAT.
Not according to this site: http://www.upergrafx.com/home_en That site is saying that it's tapping into the digital AV signals on the EXT. port before they are converted to analog, similar to how the GC and DC HDMI mods work. Only way to find out would be to open it up and see I guess. With that being said, $350 is too much for it. I could see $100 but not $350. $350 could get you an XRGB mini. EDIT: According to some comments on the video Johnney linked below, it does seem to be an analog RGB to digital converter. Please disregard the sentences above my comment on the price in this post.
Well yeah they're going to say they're doing something fancier than what a Framemeister does in order to justify asking as much as a Framemeister (that'll handle any RGB source thrown at it as opposed to just one console). I wasn't aware that there were digital signals on that expansion port but I suppose they're probably grabbing the data and upscaling it. Either way, that's a lot of cash to ask for something that can only be used on a single console. The UltraHDMI and the installer prices should be considered a benchmark for this sort of thing.
Yeah I agree with you on the price. It's way too much. Honestly I rather get a framemeister than this at that price. That way I can use it on other systems.
I suspect that it is grabbing the data off the transport bus - mostly because of the comment about the enhanced graphics in the SuperGrafix not displaying. If they were simply digitizing the analog video then it wouldn't matter what the underlying chipset in the console was. IMO the price is still too high, though.
