This is such an impressive collection, I'm really astounded by the custom Playstation 1 development computer you built. It's definitely something else especially when you take into consideration how rare and expensive those items are inside. You can tell you took your time and put a lot of effort into it which is perfect when taking on such a difficult project. As for the Xbox Alpha tower I'm speechless even though the inside is nothing more than regular computer hardware the outside radiates with beauty. The performance analyzer is also increasingly rare too and glorious to look at.
I'm just speechless at the awesome collection. I do have a question... What are the insides (specs) of the Xbox Dev Kit?
The specifications are discussed in this thread: https://assemblergames.com/threads/technical-insight-greatly-apreciated-for-franken-alpha.66353/ As for the inside you can watch assemblers video on Youtube titled: Xbox Alpha II tower ! Debug, XDK, Green Discs and Art ! Prototype xbox used by developers
Thanks guys, nice to see you enjoy the pics. Some new shots of my Playstation PC from left to right: Dongle for the PSYQ CD Emulator, SCSI Controller for the CDU Dev Burner, DTL-H800 Sound Artist Board, DTL-H2500 Dev Board, DTL-H201A Graphics Artist Board, TSeng Graphics card (need to be ISA because the setup not work with AGP Slot, IRQ conflicts ), PSYQ CD Emulator Still anything in place, Nice to see the H2500 connected to the h2510 and the PSYQ CD Emulator. The H2500 can handle both . Two HDDs one for the core system, the other installed for the Emu board. Boots up fine with Win98 SE. No conflicts anything working perfect.
Thank you Jackhead for showing us the changes you've made to your custom built Playstation 1 Workstation Personally I'd like to see you explain what each installed add on does, to demonstrate what the machine is capable of doing, and to show us what development tools are currently being used. Kinda of like what lameguy64 has done in past with his Youtube video's.
Omfg that's so coooool! I'd love to see a video, epspecially if we can see some of the equipment running!
I just started building another win98SE system with my DTL-H2700. Its based on a Asus P2B Mainboard with Pentium 3, 1GHz CPU, 768MB RAM, WD Raptor 36GB HDD (Sata IDE converter), Voodoo 5500 GPU, SB Live! Sound card into a Dell Dimension Case. Installed Win98SE The h2700 is running perfect, also the 3DFX card with the SB Live. SSD IDE is too much for win98 on real usage, the raptor with sata1 > ide runs perfect!:
Excellent, I really like how the 2700 fits in the Dimension case. For my 2700 setup I ended up using a much larger case, but the basics are fundamentally the same (P2B, PIII 1GHz, etc.)
i personal think the P2B is the best win98SE board ever.. it has 3 ISA slots, it will run "any" dev setup, till 1GHz p3, even voodoo 6000, this board is awesome.. its the best ISA/PCI board for dev you can get, tell me better board... have to add the glory trigger switch!! ^^
I've been looking for some better photos of the PS1 you have, grey shell but blue buttons. Any chance you'd be willing to pop a few up of the exterior and maybe internal side? I'm after one myself but at this stage I guess just photos are all I can hope for
