What is a jamma board? I hear/see alot about Mortal Kombat Jamma boards, yet i dont know what they are, i have a good idea though. I think they play the acutal game, and it goes into the cabnet, but that really dont make to much sence to me becuase where would the cabnet go?

Jamma is a wiring standard that many games use, basically allowing you to just unplug the board, and pop in another one without wiring it over and over again.

A Jamma board is the actual game and like Borman said, "Jamma" is the name of the wiring standard.

You can buy a Jamma board and just use one of those Supergun things to play the game on your TV. Then you wont need the cabinet anymore!

JAMMA strands for (I think) Japanese Arcade Manufactureres Something Assocation. FYI -- if a board is non-Jamma, you can get a harness to make it work.

Cabinets can be anywhere from free to hundreds...depends on how resourceful you are. You could fine one on the side of the road gutted...or you could spend several hundred on a nice one with a game and monitor...etc.

But generally checking with local distributers is good. Just open the phone book. Look to the "amusement devices" section...theres bound to be someone as long as you're near some sort of major city. Just be aware that it can be very expensive...good games (aside from megahits...ie street fighter II) can cost a ton.

There's a guy in Cali that sells good ones (Astro City, Egret II, etc.). He can be located through members at shmups if you're interested. If I were you, I would spend $400 or so on a nice Astro City. They've got 28" monitors, proper button layout, etc.

No not everyone does. I dont know a shit load around here. However if "your into arcades" as quoting my posts you would know this as basic knowledge... The information you want is available in lots and lots of other places! There is nothing rare about it and doesnt fit with the whole point of the FAQs we were talking about.
