I really like Japanese women, but I know some dude that went to Tokyo for a month and came back married with a Japanese woman (extremely hot, by the way ). What happened next? They couldn't understand each other well (mostly for language troubles) and 3 months later she came back to Japan.

I will go to Japan for a month or two when I finish my career (a promise I made to myself when I started college), but I really doubt I'll marry a woman from somewhere so different. It would be great to have a good time but for something serious I'd pick someone that at least speaks the same language that I do, I think.

 

This often has more to do w/ Male versus Female than Japanese versus non-Japanese.

How does one "finish their career"?

I pretty much knew what you meant. My wife brutalizes my verbal and written skills though, so I tend to do the same, even to non-native speakers.

Forget about japanese chicks. Honestly their pussy isn't any better than western pussy. I mean are you so pathetic the best you can do is goto another country to try to get laid? If you're going to goto Japan you should atleast do it for good reasons. Like buying lots of videogames.

 

Videogames are going to be the last thing on my mind when I go to Japan. If I want cheap/obscure games I will just buy them online.

Getting laid isn't up there on my priority list either.

Don't get me wrong, I am going to grab the first 2nd hand 20GB PS3 I see and chuck it in my suitcase, and if a girl sticks her tongue in my ear thats cool. But the main aim is just to... well... I don't have a plan, just wander with my camera, eat loads of random foodstuffs, drink (but not be a generic British tourist lager lout) and take in the atmosphere.

I couldn't imagine anything worse than going to Japan and rummaging through 2nd hand gaming shops looking for Saturn games for the entire holiday.

 

Gaijinpunch is such a cynic, lots of things to do in Japan, including seeing the many beautiful temples in Kyoto. Visit a mountain range (you can do this in a day, by going to Shinjuku jumping on the Chou line and going to Ome). Visit many museums (even if you just go two stations north of Akihabara in Ueno there is lots to see and do). Sample many different types of Sake (I enjoy that one, although don't sample too many or you'll find it hard to get back to the hotel). Anyway hunting around Saturn games is dull, much better systems to find games for. ;p

Saying that, for me, cycling to various junk shops in the vain hope I'll find PC-98 software or interesting computers is a good way to pass the day away.

But I agree with you on the cycling around & hunting for goodies - though in the end, I am more fond of the experience than of the items themselves.
Ah, like that night I had to walk several kilometers through a rice paddy & next to a motorway, carrying a decaying cardboard box full of derelict hardware - two 3DO's, a Saturn Virtua Stick and a NEC interface unit set I got at Hard-Off somewhere in the Chiba countryside. Damn heavy.
Finally make my way to a train station, I meet this weird sarariman guy and we get talking. In the end we get off at some random station and go to a yakitori place, where he ends up paying for my diner & drinks, mumbles something like "I have lots of money" and promptly leaves.

And the stuff? I left one of the 3DO's behind, the Virtua Stick gets little use nowadays and the IU had a broken CDROM unit.

 

And there's plenty of that in the west so why leave? I wouldn't mind seeing some of the sights in Japan but my primary intention would be to grab as much video gaming material as possible to take home.
