I was really surprised at how your son is so almost completely uninterested?! I could only dream of my dad coming home with the latest console and un-boxing it together. Perhaps he's a good indicator of what the Japanese think of XBOX's? (I should add that I'm a proud owner of a Japanese XBOX (the original one) purchased not long after the launch over there...
I think when we were kids getting a new console was special but these days kids have way too many games so it's not that special to them. Don't forget that his dad has many game systems so to him it's quite normal to have game stuff around him since he was born. When I was 7 I had one or two LCD games and that was it. Mind you, that was in 1982. He has access to: XBOX One XBOX 360 PS2 PSX Nintendo 3DS Saturn Dreamcast Mega Drive Super Famicom PC Engine Duo R Neo Geo Wii And so much emulation. Kids these days have no idea what it was like in the past
So true! Anyway, i'm actually surprised you bought a nextgen console on release. Nothing against it, just thought you weren't interested on anything so far. Still, have fun with it!
I'm really looking forward to Forza Horizon 2 which is the main reason to buy it now. To be fair I think I owed it to myself to buy it on day of release since the last time I did that was with the Dreamcast, oh and the Wii. The buzz wasn't the same as buying the Dreamcast or even the Wii as I'm now getting much older but I was excited when the postman brought it as I wasn't expecting it until the following day.
No, he plays everything. Yep no PS3 and no I don't want or need one, thank you. It's funny how people are surprised by the lack of a PS3
Forgot about that. Might i suggest you to keep an eye for Project Cars too? That looks promising. It was indeed shocking when he got those.
Don't get too excited about Project cars... I'm happens to a member from WMD site and have been playing Project cars for three years now (Alpha/beta and almost closing stage to full game) Project Cars is a fair decent game but sadly it was mixture between Simulation and arcade together as progress moves along, only thing it really let down was.. feels unrealistic when using steering wheel. It is no where near good as Gran Turismo 5 when using steering wheel, this is something Polyphony Digital is good at. Sadly, people really hype the Project cars because of classic Formula one cars like 60's to 90's. This is the reason I got involved as a member because of this due that I big fan of Formula 1. Sure Project cars videos on youtube looks amazing and excitement but when you play it in reality, it just another decent racing game on the market. Is Project cars is a good game? To me, it just a good game It is look promising? No, definitely not! especially in closing stage to full game. So far I been playing Gran Turismo 5 more than I did with Project cars. So don't get too excited.
I don't think so. In my opinion there's no difference between a PS3 or a 360 apart from most of the earlier games were always better on the 360 and it was never off line due to hacking of the servers. Plus the 360 had more shooters that I wanted to play. I'm currently playing Fatal Frame 3 on the PS2.
Don't worry mate, I played the Wii game first then the first 2 on the PS2. So I know what to expect. I'm up to the part where the game is more stelth as I'm the brother of the main woman. Man, I hate this part of the game.
Shooters. Thats all. PS3 has much more interesting exclusive games from both first party and third parties.
Nice to see some XBONE power in Japan . I still need to pick-up mine, but I'm waiting for the white Sunset Overdrive bundle or if I can hold-out a bit longer I'll wait till the release of Saints Row for the XBONE @Riki, "interesting exclusives" is purely a personal taste. I have both a PS3 and a Xbox 360, both at launch, in all these years the PS3 has hardly been used, while the 360 has been running over hours. So for me the 360 is the clear winner, while for others its the PS3 so let's leave it at that
I like Cave shooters as well as others. I also love Forza 3 and 4, not to mention many other titles which are multi format (mostly better on the 360). Also as an added bonus I was finally able to play Panzer Dragoon Orta and Simpson's Hit & Run. Two games I always wanted to play but couldn't because I never owned an original XBOX. They both play fine on the 360. At the end of the day, everyone has their own opinions and for me the 360 was a good console. It had what I wanted and kept me very happy for 5 solid years. No regrets at all. The Sunset Overdrive console sure does look nice. So nice I thought about waiting for that but God only knows how long it will take before we get it, if we get it. So in the end I went for a standard black one. Really looking forward to the next Saints Row as well as Forza Horizons 2 and Quantum Break (is that the correct title?) . Looks like it could be a winner.
@Yakumo I've always wanted to asked you this for kinda while, um what are your thoughts on the Nintendo 64? Just curious & sorta not surprised you don't own one since it did very badly in Japan back in the day.
My honest opinion is that it is not a very good system. I do actually own one and about 20 cartridges and RAM upgrade somewhere. There's probably posts of mine on this very forum from 10 years ago showing my N64 stuff In reality though I'd much rather play a Saturn or PlayStation 3D game simply because the textures are not a blurred mess (Blocky is better than blur) and games are normally not filled with horrid fog. I don't know but the N64 to me seemed like it couldn't even draw small polygons. Everything was big and clunky on it. My brother owned one back in the day with a Bung CD Drive so we got to play pretty much all the games for it and very few impressed. Well, that's a lie. I did like how many games had polygons that were rock solid but the washy colours and textures ruined it for me. The media used and lack of RAM was another downfall IMO. Sure, the N64 has some real gems such as F-Zero, Golden Eye and err........ Pilotwings but that's about it for me I'm afraid. Back when the N64 was released I was really big in to 2D fighters and racing games (still am really) but the N64 had no real 2D games (or did it????) and EVERY racing game on it bar one was total crap when put up next to Sega Rally, Ridge Racer and Daytona, yes, even the Saturn's first Daytona. It looked awful but played so well. To me, Nintendo stopped making great home consoles with the Super Famicom. man, that is an excellent machine. After the N64 every Nintendo home console had that kiddy stigma started by the Fisher Price Game Cube. Saying that I do own a lot of Game Cube games that I use via a Wii. There are some great Cube games but I never did own the console. Just the controllers
Very nice and well put thoughts! i absolutely agree to everything what you had to say about the console as (sadly i hate to say) i used to grew up with the system and nothing else well besides the Sega Genesis that me & my older brother used to have and then we had the Sega Dreamcast around mid 2000 i believe. But anyways now that i look back at the system myself i too got tired of it and yeah i actually did got to play both a Sega Saturn & PlayStation 1 when my uncles and cousins had them so i pretty much got to experience the greatest to all three consoles of the worlds! Lol though i did had a special fond with the Saturn when i first saw it at my uncle's house and played the crap out of Clockwork Knights & Daytona USA on that Sampler Demo Disc they had and was very impressed at the graphics at the time and to me looked nearly arcade perfect as a kid (yeah i was to dumb to tell the difference back then xD) and with the PlayStation i got to try Jampack demo disc, Tekken 2, Interactive Sampler Volume 5 or 6 i believe? And a few racing & one wrestling game (well watched) though anyways don't get me wrong i loved the Nintendo 64 before cuz of the old times with many Multiplayer nights with me, my older brother & cousins. But sadly those days are LONG gone :-( and now I'm replacing my N64 (gave it to a friend that lives around my neighborhood) and now I'm saving up my money to get a Victor V-Saturn cuz of the Video CD Mpeg Card that hopefully comes with! ;-) so that's pretty much my side of the story growing up with it.
