Emo girls are easy. But who cares. As long as more idiots keep killing themselves, the better off this world is.

If emo was truely emo there would be no emo. (as they all would have killed themselves)

Hopefully this fad will die soon and they can go back to playing D&D like people used to when they couldn't fit in.

I was watching the news last night and talked about a study that came out recently saying that kids between 6yrs old all the way up to 18years old are more narcisistic.l..

Jesus, you'd have to be a right twat to actually go around on-line trying to determine how EMO you actually were. Personally, being the father of a self confessed (chicken shit) Emo, who wouldn't so much as stick a pin through her ear as slit her own throat, it's just a dorky wee fad. Like all dorky wee fads you will always get the really sad ones who have to prove that they are the "uber", "ultimate" EMO and express themselves through cutting and the like.

Look, if you didn't label them EMO they would just be the same bunch of kids doing the same shit as they've always done.

They are frankly a laugh by comparison to what punks and skinheads used to do back in the 1970's and early 80's.

    Kurt Cobain FTW!

Seriously though, this report is sensationalist to no end. They show a parody song on youtube as well as joke quizess and what is probably a gag gift cutting board, all portrayed as legit aspects of Emo culture.

Don't get me wrong, the closest thing to Emo I listen to is Fugazi (Ian MacKaye FTW!) but it's just pathetic when "journalist" can't tell the difference between something thats a joke and something thats serious.

I thought it was the responsibility of the media to take whats a joke/not serious and portray it as someone writing their own personal bible?

Yeap, although I m not supportive of the style or the extreme cases their journalism is mickey-mouse journalism, done online mostly (apparent in a google search they show, if u find the full length video).

kits (EDIT: KIDS , i m used to typing dev. kits more than kids it seems) cutting themselves or attempting suicide is nothing novel to the Emo movement in my view. Kids face stress like grown-ups do, and sometimes even more (in their own subjective way), and due to the lack of maturity they make some wrong decisions sometimes.

Getting laid is the number one priority on a teenage boy's list - I know that from personal experience, and there's no shame in admitting it:p - as usual, many individuals face difficulties in achieving this goal which makes them want to attract attention from the opposite sex and not the media.

Remember guys, many of you started smoking out of peer-pressure or tried drugs at college for the same reasons.

The journalists just wanted to make it sound like a bang, and that's a shame to alarm parents about their kids in such a way as if they re suicidal BECAUSE of a trend.

    It was shite journalism!

Barc0de, you shock me "getting laid is the number one priority on a teenage boy's list..." Here was me thinking it was getting good grades and having enough in your pocket when the release date of a particular game was due? The sheltered life I led....damn, I caught up with it all though...3 kids now! ;-)

Also worthy of note, I am celebrating my 201st message on the boards. Well done me, I am now an "Active Member" rather than poo on the bottom of peoples shoes.

    Way to go Johnny-Apple-Seed ;)

Having kids must be great though! 10 times more fun than having a clever pet (and 100 times more costly from what I hear)! A bit too early for me though I d love to have a bunch when I m older :D (I ll be devastated if my kids don't like playing video games though, and I firmly believe an NES is a solid place to start them off - but they ll complain about the shitty graphics I m sure:( )

Emo new phenomena? Bullshit. You should have a look at where I live. Although its a truly small place there's plenty of them! And I have to admit when I was younger I was more or less like that idiot in the movie. Just shit sitting waiting for someone to kick my arse. Idiotic.

I showed the clip to a Brit who was surprised at how consolidated the emo concept was. Where he is at they use it more as an insult or to describe someone who likes punk music. Emo for us is just about a uniform and thought process for people.

Where in the UK does this person live? He/she surely never travels into the city much I guess? Isolated on a little peat crofting farm on the furthest flung islands of the North West? Where we are you just have to open your front door and you see EMO kids mumbling and dragging their sorry feet around the place! Off on some pointless errand, which incidentally they may never finish as they'll just forget what they were doing. (It really is that sad).

In my cul-de-sac there are 8 houses. In them are 6 kids. Of which 2 of them are EMO. On Saturday you go into the Central train station and the EMO kids, along with what I'd have called punks, skinheads, grunge, rockers and indie rock guys are all shuffling around the concourse, pushing each other, jumping on each others backs and skulking like life is one big shitty drag! The main difference I can see with EMO as it seems to attract a lot of the more feminine guys. My daughter has often mentioned that one EMO guy is going out with another, so it seems to be either a fad thing (like the new romantics) or somewhere for young gay guys to feel they fit in. (Not that I have anything against homosexuality).

Around the corner there is the UK's first under age rock venue "The Cathouse" (formally the Rathouse). When they open their doors there is generally a queue stretching the equivalent of 3 blocks down the street, around the corner and off down Jamaica St. I'd say it was a pretty big thing here.

Okay: Suicidal people and those with deeply rooted psychological personality disorders & self image problems tend to have huge social issues, seem incapable of functioning at even a basic level and can drop out completely. They can in many instances become so depressed that they don't take any pride in their appearance, fail to keep themselves neatly clothed, hygene can become an issue etc.

EMO parents have no fear! EMO kids take AGES to get ready to go out. Let me vouch for this! My eldest daughter can literally hog the upstairs bathroom all afternoon trying to perfect that look of isolation, desolation & neglect! Before she starts, she just looks like any 14 yr old kid, but by the time she finishes deconstructing herself she would scare the crap out of Robert Smith!

It also (again let me clarify) costs a bit of cash to be part of the EMO in crowd. You can be safe in the knowledge that your child is not about to slash their wrists all over their retro skintight drainpipes, VANS or My Chemical Romance t-shirt! No way would they spoil their clothes.

I was walking back from the city centre a few nights ago when I bumped (almost literally) into a crowd of skinheads. Man, was that nostalgic. Bleached blue & white jeans, braces (red ffs!), an assortment of band t-shirts (mostly with the Queens face on them), ox blood Doc Martins, green bomber jackets and absolutely no hair. The weird thing for me was this was like a time warp! They threw me right back to my childhood and far from being threatened by them I thought they looked fan-bloody-tastic! If I had been so enthusiastic back in the 1970's and even LOOKED the wrong way at a skinhead I don't think I would have made it home without a broken nose.

All of this stuff just goes around & around, becoming more and more a parody and pastiche of itself. I mean you have to wonder where they go to buy this stuff.

My only complaint about it is that it does pretty much confirm to me that at the moment Britain doesn't really have a viable wave of new, original music to hang a style onto.

A lot of emo girls are cute. The only problem is that sometimes you can't really tell if they're girls or boys :(.

    As for the video: hahahahahaha

Emo has become an insult and a parody of itself. What kids have to complain about these days beats me. An Emo/Chav war might make the world a better place if you ask me

To be honest I'm not sure. The only idea I have is his host mask of being ubr03.wiga.blueyonder.co.uk which I'm told is a village near him. He was in Japan for the last 3-4 months so maybe his memory is shot.

EMO = stupid numbskull shithead nonintelligent dropdead narcisistic jerks, who I would call ultimately losers ! to me this is just an offspring of something rotten that smells like it should have been thrown out in the underground scene from a place between the 80´s and ?´s

they take everything from this to that. And call it emo, I think it is a big joke. Sue me if you feel like it.

but EMO is something that is out of hands to me. Maybe some years from now I will have another opinion about it. Or maybe I won´t but if I am emotional , then I won´t be so mentally stupid, like trying suicide, or cutting myself or anything like that. Heck, I would rather play with my cat, cuddle her. And just enjoy her company, and smile. Than doing anything stupid like what they are doing. Yeah, I got a sweet feline two weeks ago. And she is a wonderful cat .
