If anyone is looking, there's one up on eBay now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/OPERA-Rare-PlayStation-One-Clone-Sealed/162601113579 Same thing but different branding.
I think that might be Sega Genesis(or MD?) compatible. I'm not familiar with Sega consoles so I don't know too much about that. Here is some picture of it: On the font has a sinning SEGA logo sticker: Here is inside look: Here is main board PCB: As for the games, it comes 9 VCD disc with it, see the picture below: And here is the game list, most are in Chinese nearly 400 games total. You can see at second picture of list, at lower right corner you can see a "SEGA" text, That says "Sega licensed and registered at national copyright office" If you lookup closely, you can found most of games are from third-parity company. So at that time having some unsubstantiated claims says "sega only licensed their own games, and this company still making those copy to make a profit".
Wow. What a beauty. Never seen or heard of this one before. Many thanks for sharing! I'd be curios to find out if it plays burned Sega CD games. Can see many licensed Sega MD/Genesis games listed. Most clones I've seen have all the required components fitted on one board. In this case there are two? I guess running the games from a CD requires all these extra components? Or maybe it could actually play Sega CD games
Because this console only sold in Mainland China and some asian countries like Thailand and India. It can't play Sega CD games, only compatible with it's own game disc(with a menu to select the games)
That's a really cool looking device. Looks as big as a VCR. How big is the casing of it? The Opera VCD is rather small, almost PsOne sized. Did that "Sega" unit come with its own custom branded controllers? Is it compatible with real Sega Genesis controllers? Are those Game VCDs full of Genesis roms? Any chance you could take a picture of the disc contents or the menu that displays on the screen?
The size like a regular VHS VCR device, but not as heavy as it. Yes, it come with its own branded 9-pin controllers, see the picture below: And it's compatible with real Sega MD/Genesis controllers Yes, here is menu:
