#1. How about keeping politics and sensitive threads locked again? We've been over all the crap discussed a million times. Gun discussions, Religious, Evil corporations, Politics in general, etc. They just create animosity, imo.

#2. Please stop using blanket statements and factpinions. I know this is YOUR site ASSEMbler, but saying things like "Europeans are more level headed than Americans" is a factpinion + blanket statement. And its not just your posts, but a few other members posts as well. Like: "Bloody Western gamers have shit taste in games." And you guys always seem to imply that everyone here is an ignorant fatass who goes to Mcdonalds and Wal-Mart every day. If someone was to make a similar blanket statement to any other country, they'd get chastized for it. I'm not playing the "Victimized American" routine, as described by one of our mods, this is just how it feels to post here. This place feels almost like a Nazi regime, in my honest opinion. Well, a weird liberal Nazi regime, but you know. I'm glad this place isn't Gamefaqs, but when both sides argue until they're blue in the face and angry at each other, then the community isn't a nice place to be in.

#3. Theres a member or two who should probably be banned, imo. Not anyone who disagrees with my opinions or anything, but a certain poster who always talks about his perverted "Adventures" on the internet. Seems like every time he posts shit happens.

This is just my two cents, but its been a LONG time coming. Feel free to laugh or call me a crybaby, I don't care. This is how I've felt for a looong time, and I felt I had to make this post after keeping it bottled up for almost 2 and a half years. I don't hate anyone here (Though I may occasionally like to push some members buttons), nor am I trying to start a flamewar with this, so please don't get offended if you think you were singled out.

Factpinions, btw, are opinions that are posted as fact for those that don't know.

Is it because of the Walmart thread , you suddenly feel the urge to defend USA ?

Since if it is, because of that thread. Then you should probably have made this thread long before the Walmart thread, since I think that I have recently been hammering with other people involved on USA.

I said this thread was a LONG time coming.

Its like the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak.

And to clarify, that person I said I wanted banned wasn't you, just in case you were wondering.

Defending USA? More like I'm sick and tired of blanket statements and factpinions. I can easily say if it were the other way around, some European member would make a similar thread.

For example, what if ASSEMbler said "I'm making only American Members moderators because anyone who lives under a monarchy aren't level headed and unwilling to change?"? I know its more of a Democracy there now, but its just an example.

Mr. Casual I think I skipped the banned part over by mistake. I didn´t see that at all, I just thought what you read. In this thread(my posts). And well I don´t use blanket statements (that much) I believe anymore, I ask instead. Since there I can see a better view on the subject , if you saw my Aldi question, that was neither a blanket statement or a factpinion. That was a question.

The blanket statement thing was aimed at some other members, actually.

I don't know, I may be overreacting about the whole thing, but its really stuck in my craw for a long time and me making a big fuss about it all of a sudden is probably what happens when I don't voice my opinions about it enough.

I'm going to have to agree with Mr. Casual on this. For instance, a while back in a thread (can't remember which one) someone was insinuating that everyone who lives in a "Red States" is an idiot. I was a little agitated by that statement because I happen to live in a "Red State", and so I wrote a pretty long, well thought response to what that person said... but instead of posting it I just canceled it. That wasn't the first time either. There have been several instances where I don't agree with someone and I write a fairly hefty post, but then just cancel it instead of posting. I guess when you know that most everyone on the fourm will never agree with you and that even the administrator has well known biases (instead of being fair and balanced), you tend to lose interest in posting at all.

some people come here to learn, others come here to persuade others that they know.

Each person needs equal amounts of both in my view.

I still fail to see why the administrator has to be fair and balanced... This is his forum and hes allowed to have views just as you have. So because hes the admin he cant have an opinion....

Don't be silly. I'm not saying he can't have/express his opinion. Asserting it as fact, or letting his opinion get in the way of important decisions (potentially leading to possible 'unethical' or 'unfair' moderation policies) is something that should, however, be avoided. When it comes to moderation, there is a clear bias. If you don't see it or fail to admit it, then you are blind.

I would lock the political topics, but people refuse to stop discussion
social or political issues on a VIDEO GAME WEBSITE.

I would expect people to treat any off topic discsussions
as just that: off topic and not to be taken seriously.

I wasn't aware that I was no longer entitled to an opinion, and that by taking one I was becoming nazi-like.

As to banning people, there is such a thing called "proxy server"
which makes any attempt to ban useless and not worth the time.

What you can do is what I do, ignore or not pay attention to
    posts by certain people.

I agree with Assembler, when its all said and done this is just a group of people who share common interest gathering in one spot on the internet.

If someone says something you dont like or agree with then just ignore it, Im sure people have ignored me before. In fact I dont even read things outside of the General Gaming, Rare and Obscure, and market place areas anymore.

Im not saying that I agree with what everyone says here on the site and I cant say I like it all, but ask yourself... Is it really worth the time and effort to worry about it when you can just ignore it?

Yeah, why not ignore it ? I mean how many times haven´t I ignored the little hint of gay comments from the two main protagonists in this thread ? Just so they could see me get pissed off ? But now, I just ignore any hints in that direction or just ask them to grow up or something like that. But still I am just putting another 25 cents of my thoughts into this thread. So do what you like, I am not controlling you.

Man.....if I ran a giant forum and people did that I think I'd ban them all or something....I mean, casual discussion is whatever, but full blown debates is vomit! Of course, I hate politics so maybe I'm biased.

ATEOTD this Forum is to bring together likeminded enthusiasts who have one particular thing in common... a love of VideoGames & their development & Hardware etc.

Anything beyond that (inc. individual tates, preferences, opinions, ideas etc) that do not relate to the VG area of interest is personal. Just ebcuase i get on with people on here who have an interest in VG doesnt necessarily mean i would hang out wth them in real life or be instant close buddys if we ever met up.

This site/forum is a meeting place for like minded folk, and so happens to have an 'Off Topic / unmoderated' section. This in my opinion shows me more about how people are generally then 100's of threads about SNES/DC/Xbox development etc. And reading those threads also helps to build an idea of what the person is like at the other end of the phone/cable/dsl line.

I think that the moderation is good, especailly if it can bring the forum into any disrepute. but stamping down on people for being individual would only serve to drive people away. If you dont like something some one says then either just ignore them or say so. If you feel that a statement made is offensive to a wider audience or may have more serious implications then report it to a Mod or Kev.

    Just my two pennies/cents worth....

Oh for the love of God, when did I EVER say you weren't entitled to an opinion? Point out where I said those exact words. You can't because I didn't, and you've spun what I said just like Pulo.

Don't start antagonizing, making subtle references about me, trying to get me to "attack" you. I'm not going to play your stupid little game. Remember our agreement. I've stuck by it, so there is no need for you to be making snide little remarks like this one.

AWS: I only said, I was ignoring the attacks now adays. but it looks like your mate didn´t exactly get it, in the other thread. And no I am not interested in a flamewar again. So I used it as an example not an attack AWS.

And I have stuck to my side of the agreement too, since I could see the positive side of it.
