The fuck? You've had a lot of bad luck with your modem lately. I thought this happened to my modem a last month (it just was on a reboot loop) I changed with another power supply that was laying around and it's staying on now.. Modems are very weird.
It isn't my modem. It is my copper in the street. I did some more testing, and it turns out, I have 6 dB of noise on the line, with water in it. Telstra refuses to replace it. I am changing ISP's on Monday first thing. If I then complain, maybe they will do something a little more about it.
Complaining to Telstra is utterly pointless, might as well scream at them in Chinese. They just don't care about their customers. Anyhow, blast the shit out of them for fun
No point. I got connected to the USA for technial support. WHAT THE FUCK The guy, was in America, and he tried to fix my Internet.
Surely this is illegal? Legally speaking you're renting the internet lines right? Typically if something fucks up that isn't a "tennants" fault the leaser has to replace it right?
Well at least you were not speaking to an Indian that barely can speak English. With the line cutting out every 3 seconds and hangs up on you.
We got a technician to look at the problem finally. He only lives up the road, and it took them 6 months to get it organised. What he said, was that my copper is 6 KM + in length until it reaches the exchange, when it should only be around 3 KM. Above that, he said the entire pit in the street is filled with water, and all of the coper has become corroded. He also said, that the exchange was not outputting the correct voltage. It was getting a peak of 26 volts. So that is illegal what they had running, as it can damage equipment. He also said, that since you are on an ADSL+2 DSL service, the maximum line length should only be around 1.5 KM. After that, noise just takes over the line. I said can I get switched over to ADSL, but he said that all the ports on the sub-exchange DSLAM are full. So. I am going to tell him tomorrow to see if one of those DSLAM ports are not being used, or to hook my line up as a test to see what we get.
*large explosion* Running pretty slow today, Feel for our Australian users though, internet there is pretty crap for everyone.
I missed this thread because fucking Telmex, the internet/phone monopoly owned by the RICHEST man in the world, wouldn't reconnect me for ONE FUCKING WEEK. Yeah, Internet in Mexico, Bitches! Also, I pay for 10mbps, and I get like 4. And it took 1 week to reconnect me. Fuck yeah. But at least, they don't throttle or limit my data - and it's unlimited.
